Makkah is a city of great sanctity for Muslims. It’s the city where the ‘House of Allah Almighty; Holy Kaabah’ is as well as it’s the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW). It lies in a desert valley of western Saudi Arabia. The distinctive thing about it is that only Muslims can visit this city. With tens of millions of pilgrims arriving each year through Ramzan umrah 2020 packages and for Hajj, the city remains filled with a sea of people.

Here are the pilgrimage places to visit in Makkah.

Masjid-al-Haram.

Masjid-al-Haram is the 1st of three sacred mosques of Islam. It is the largest mosque in the world with the capacity to contain 4-5 million people at once. Yet, many expansion plans and construction are underway. Masjid-al-Haram houses some of the most sacred things. Prominently; Holy Kaabah, Safah and Marwah Hills, Maqam-e-Ibrahim, Hateem, Hajar-e-Aswad, Zamzam well – everything. On top of that, the Masjid is located in the true centre of the earth; Makkah city.

Mina Valley.

8 Kilometres ...
... east of Masjid al-Haram, the “Tent City” of Mina is Located. Around 100,000 Teflon-covered, air-conditioned tents are present here to house hajj pilgrims. Pilgrims arrive and stay here on 8th of Dhul-Hijjah and then from 10th-13th of the Dhul-Hijjah. Rami-e-Jamarat; Stoning of the devil also takes place here. Stay in Mina and Rami both are two of the most essential rituals of Hajj.

Arafat Mountain.

9th of Dhul-Hijjah, the second day of hajj is spent in Arafat. This ritual is the essence of Hajj. If any pilgrim misses/skips the stay in Arafat, the hajj becomes invalid. Pilgrims spend the day here and offer Zuhr and Asr Salah combined. Masjid-e-Nimra is also here which only opens once a year for the very purpose. Prophet (SAWW) delivered the farewell sermon here. On the Day of Qayamat, all the people would also gather here.

Muzdalifah.

In Between the Mount Arafat and Mina valley, the region of Muzdalifah remains located. Pilgrims come here from Mina and stay till sunset. It’s also an essential ritual of hajj that every pilgrim needs to perform.

The Cave of Hira.

The cave of Hira is present on Jabal-al-Noor, 5 Kilometres away from Masjid-al-Haram. It is where Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) used to go and pray even before his (SAWW) prophethood. He (SAWW) also received the first revelation of the Holy Quran from Allah Almighty, here. It is the most popular Ziyarath site of Makkah.

Thawr Mountain.

The Thawr Mountain also houses a cave famously known as ‘The Cave of Thawr’. When Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) were migrating to Madinah along with Hazrat Abu Bakar (RA), they took refuge in this cave. By the order of Allah Almighty, a spider made a cobweb and a pigeon laid eggs at the entrance of the cave to indicate the enemies that no one has entered here. It’s also a famous Ziyarath site.

So, if you are travelling with umrah packages from Manchester, don’t forget to visit these pilgrimage places.
