When my childhood bestie moved to Canada before we finished school, I missed her terribly and we cried for months wondering when we would get to meet each other again. Years passed and finally when we both started working, we decided to meet up. Avni was no normal girl and she always wanted to try something crazy or fun and never let a dull moment exist when we were together. Now, I was curious what she would suggest for our meet up plans.

So last month when Avni came for her yearly visit we planned a trip to Andamans. Avni being the adventure enthusiast at heart had tried scuba diving many times in different places. I have always been scared of it and I knew that the only person who could make me do this is Avni. So, we planned our trip and did a scuba diving course in Andamans in the pristine waters of Havelock.

I had booked for a Try Dive at the Havelock Islands. Avni was super excited as she loves scuba and this had been on our places-to-visit list for long. She kept on encouraging me and telling me that this will be one of my best experiences and one of our most enjoyable trips. I was a bit hesitant but ...

The Andaman Islands is famous all over the globe for its stunning turquoise water, tropical rainforests, coral fish and is a renowned spot for scuba. We had planned for a week-long trip to enjoy the Island, the silver sand and bask in the glory of this stunning beauty. On the day of the course we left our hotel early and reached the dive centre early in the morning. Even before the diving instructor could brief us about the safety protocols and diving procedures Avni had told me all about it, in fact, more than required for my first ever diving course.

Our dive was a 30-min long and 40-feet deep one from the Island. I was pretty nervous before the dive in fact at one point I even thought of backing out but I knew how mad she would get so I just mustered some courage and went with the flow.
For the first time ever, I witnessed the beauty underwater and it was marvellous. I'd never seen such stunning corals and the beauty underwater.

The whole experience from the time we entered the water was mesmerising. I was trying to spot as many colourful fishes as possible and some pretty big fishes too. There were schools of fishes zipping past me and the corals were like a painting full of hundreds of colours. I did not want to leave this underwater world, but alas, the cylinder was getting empty and it was time to return to the surface. After the dive, we swam back to the beach and enjoyed lying down on the sand.

I hadn’t had a clue that I would enjoy my scuba diving course in Andamans so much and I guess this is just the start, and I would try more such adventures on our future trips as well.
