My sister and I are as thick as thieves. We fight a lot even today but at the end of the day, we can’t stay without sharing even the smallest of things with each other. We have even travelled together on many occasions. She has always been a bit lazy you for someone who can sit in front of the tv the whole day without moving an inch. I, on the other hand, have always enjoyed adventure and if I have to sit at one place for more than an hour, I would feel restless.

Whenever I'm back from my trips I tell her everything about it and she gets excited as well but the thought of travelling and the effort involved prevents her from doing it. So, just a few months back I tried paragliding in Lonavala for the first time in my life.

On a weekend last month, me and a couple of my friends went to Lonavala. We went there for 2 days and had a great time. This friend of ours told us about his paragliding experience and all of us got excited to try it. And it was right here near Lonavala.

The flight started and my heart skipped a bit as my feet left the ground. Slowly we kept soaring higher and higher and reached at an altitude of 2000 feet. The views that I witnessed of the Sahyadris were so stunning that even after we landed, I was stunned. The visuals of paragliding in Lonavala kept playing in my mind over and over again and I so wanted my sister to experience this as well. I knew it was difficult to get her to do it but also that she would love this.

Hence, when we went to visit our grandmother later in the year at Himachal Pradesh, it gave me the perfect opportunity to plan something special for my sister. There is of course, paragliding in Himachal Pradesh which is done at Bir Billing and is like the most renowned place for paragliding in India. Tourists from all over the globe come here to experience this adventure. And It’s all because of the kinda beauty it offers. Stunning views of the towering snow-capped mountains, the lush green, and flowing rivers who wouldn’t want to witness such a beauty?

I told her we are going for a shopping trip but before that we had to meet a cousin early in the morning and took her to the Tibetan Colony early in the morning. We met the flight operator here and were driven to Bir Billing. I was excited but my sister was making a fuss saying that she could have simply relaxed at home with Nani watching TV. I assured her that if she doesn't enjoy this, I would take her shopping when we went back home. And that kinda stopped her from cribbing. So, the time had finally arrived. We reached Billing and after a short briefing we were strapped and gearing up to take off.

I sensed how scared my sister was when she was being strapped, she even looked at me a few times but I reassured her that it's going to be fine. As her feet left the ground, she did scream a bit. After she took off my trip was about to start. After 20 mins when we landed, she just couldn't stop telling me how amazing it felt. And honestly, paragliding in Himachal Pradesh is a memorable experience. The views that it offers are spectacular and when you take that flight you know why this is one of the most preferred spots for paragliding.
