Hajj is an Islamic Pilgrimage that gets performed during the last month of Islamic Year; 8th to 13th of Dhul Hijjah. It remains a religious obligation for all the able-bodied and financially capable Muslims. Every year almost 4 million Muslim pilgrims gather in the holy city of Makkah to offer the holy rituals. At this time the Gilaaf-e-Kaabah, also known as Kiswa, also gets changed. The ritual takes place on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah (the day of Arafat) every year after Fajar Salah.

The fundamental base of Islam stands on 5 pillars;

The performance of Hajj is the order of Allah Almighty. It has been mentioned in the Holy Quran, several times that Muslims who are able to perform hajj, must perform it. No matter where they live. They should come to the holy city of Makkah and offer the rituals of Hajj at least once in their lives. The rites of Hajj are also among those, decreed by Allah Almighty.

Sunnah of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW).

Our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) himself performed Hajj. Therefore, in addition to being a religious obligation, Hajj is also a sunnah for Muslims.

The reward of great Worldly and Afterworld Benefits.

Hajj rewards a person with great worldly benefits and would definitely reward in the afterworld. It’s an ultimate journey of learning and spirituality. It offers pilgrims a fresh start of life; a shift in perspective and removes poverty. That’s why it has been recommended to perform hajj and umrah frequently (if you can).

Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) said that on the day of Judgement, Allah Almighty will grant Hajar-e-Aswad the ability to see and speak. After which the Black Stone will testify in favour of all those people (pilgrims) who touched or kissed it.

Expiation of Sins.

Hajj removes all of a person’s sins. Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) narrated that whoever performs Hajj with rightful intentions (for the sake of Allah), abstains from having intimacy with his wife, doesn’t commit sins and do evil (harm anyone) then he returns from Hajj as if he was just born (without any sins).

The Best Deed.

Upon asking Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) narrated that (description of which is) three deeds are the best and most rewarding. Belief in Allah and His Messenger (SAWW), Jihad for the Sake of Allah and an Accepted Hajj.
