Thinking to take kids to the pilgrimage cum adventurous trip to Muktinath?
The Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a very popular choice with families travelling with young children and toddlers. From being a simple hike to having flexible activities and leisurely days, there are several features of Muktinath Tour that make the trek ideal for children. There is a completely different side to the religiously popular muktinath yatra
. It is a great way to spend some quality time with your family, experience hiking together and make memories that last for a lifetime!
It is not just the ease of the trek that attracts several families every year but also its diversity. The Jomsom Muktinath Trek is the best amalgamation of nature and culture one can see. The holy temple of Muktinath, the picture perfect deserts of Mustang, the Great Canyons, and the Dhumba Lake at the foothills of Nilgiri Peaks… the list of attractions can just go on and on. The kids have a great time visiting the apple orchards of Marpha where apples are available in different forms from fresh ...
... to dried and from Jams to fermented.
The Muktinath Yatra trip is also a great way for the children to learn about the local Buddhist culture of the place and also the lifestyle of the people there. They will have a great time playing with Yaks, Mules, Horses and Donkeys and having a ride on them.
It is a great idea to take up the trek with children but only if it is well planned. It is advisable to read a lot about the place and discuss with people who have had a firsthand experience of the trek.
Muktinath Yatra with Kids—some tips
Here are a few tips to make your Muktinath Tour, a family trip that is much more convenient and fun.
1. If you are travelling with a young child, hiring a porter is a good idea. Porters carry the children in their ‘doko’ basket which makes the trek amusing for children and convenient for parents.

2. Since it is quite challenging for kids to walk the narrow and crowded streets of Kathmandu, it is advisable to carry a sling or a backpack to carry young children and keep them safe by not letting them walk the streets at all. Most of the streets here are pavement less also.

3. Try and carry disposable diapers with you, if possible. Even though they are easily available in Kathmandu as well as Pokhara, they come for a hefty price.

4. Do not expect facilities like high chairs, cots or nappy changing boards, especially if you are booked with a budget or even a middle range hotel.

5. Before you check-into a hotel in Kathmandu, make sure that they have a play area for kids in the form of an open garden or a roof garden. Also, make it a point to ensure that they are safe for children from all ends. Most of the hotels in Kathmandu have either a garden or a roof garden so finding one should not be a concern.

6. Most of the hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara are family-friendly, i.e. they offer rooms on a triple sharing basis or a suite that has four beds. Both of these options are an ideal choice for a family on a holiday.
The
Muktinath Temple has been progressively more popular with the people looking to travel with kids. If the trip is planned well in advance and with meticulous details, it can be a fun-filled experience not just for the parents but for the kids as well.
