Migrating from Lotus Notes to Outlook is a common phenomenon at workplaces and often done to switch to a better email client platform. GroupWare applications are known for providing tools that lets an organizational group to bridge communication gaps amongst each other with ease and effortlessly. Lotus Notes supports communication throughout the organization via email messages, discussion lists and other communication mechanisms. Actually, the connector uses the PFT to map fields in Notes forms to properties in Exchange Server forms. After this, it converts the Lotus Notes data to MS Outlook accordingly and respectively. If one of the Notes field cannot be mapped to an Exchange Server field, the data is skipped.

As an administrator, you can generate PDF file in two different ways: one you can use the Generate Template option in the Application Connector, or else you can run the Lotus Notes Application Conversion Assistant. The Application Connector generates PFTs only that needs no customization for simple Lotus Notes databases such as a document library etc. However, if the database is customized, administrator first needs to run the Application Conversion Assistant before he migrates any data using Application Connector. In addition to this, administrator needs to utilize the Application Conversion Assistant's PFT. He should let Application Connector to produce a template, select Edit Template, Delete the text and paste all the contents of Application Conversion Assistant's PFT on it, or copy the generate file by Application Conversion Assistant to the Application Connector program directory.

Application Conversion Assistant inspects Notes database design and creates comparable forms in an Exchange Server public folder. Particular design elements do not translate between programs and so one must thoroughly review the generated Outlook forms and perform any design alterations according to the user's requirements. Run Application Connector only when you are pleased with the form design. If you add or change any field in the Outlook forms, then you must reflect these changes in PFT file manually, by editing it and later check the same for any syntax errors.
