Islam’s fundamental base relies upon five pillars. Hajj being the 5th and one of the most essential parts of it also remains a religious obligation for every Muslim given that he/she is physically, mentally and financially able. Hajj pilgrimage is also among those religious duties decreed by Allah Almighty himself, in the Holy Quran. Therefore, it holds exceptional importance for Muslims. Each year, an estimated 4 million Muslim pilgrims, from all across the globe, travel to the Holy city of Makkah for Hajj pilgrimage. With a diversity of Islamic Travel Cheap Hajj Packages available in the market, one can easily travel for Hajj economically.

Muslims gather in Makkah and prepare for the rituals of Hajj to be performed during 8th to 13th of Dhul Hijjah. While also some rituals need to be performed before that as well as after the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. Therefore, here’s a brief description of the list of important places to visit during Hajj.

1. Masjid-al-Haram.

Masjid-al-Haram is the most sacred and holiest masjid for ...
... Muslims living around the globe as the Holy Kaabah is located here. It’s the only Qibla of Muslims. It is the place of exceptional spirituality and blessings. Zamzam Well, Hajar-e-Aswad (the Black Stone), Maqam-e-Ibrahim, Hateem, Safah and Marwah Mountains – everything is present here. Pilgrims travelling for hajj and Umrah spend a greater time of their pilgrimage inside it. Tawaf, Sayee are performed here.

2. Mina.

Located 8 kilometres, East of the Masjid al-Haram, Mina is a home for pilgrims as they spend most their nights during hajj journey here. First arriving here on 8th of Dhul Hijjah and then from 10th to 13th. With the presence of almost 100,000 air-conditioned Teflon-covered tents for 3 million Pilgrims in the valley of Mina, it is also known as the “Tent City”. Here Rami-al-Jamarat (stoning of the devil) is performed by pilgrims.

3. Arafat.

The true essence of Hajj is the ‘day of Arafah’ that falls on the second day of hajj; 9th of Dhul Hijjah where Muslims move from Mina to mount Arafat. It is located 22 kilometres East of Haram, Makkah. Standing at Arafat is one the most significant rituals of Hajj, incompletion of which can make your Hajj invalid. Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) delivered the farewell sermon here. It’s the place where all the people would gather on the Day of Judgement. Pilgrims come at Arafat during noon, offer Dhuhr and Asr Salah combined, listen to Khutbah, and leave right after sunset (without offering Salat-al-Maghrib).

4. Muzdalifah.

Situated 9 kilometres south-east of Mina, Muzdalifah is present between Mount Arafat and Mina valley. After leaving Arafat at sunset, Muslims travel to Muzdalifah. Upon reaching, they offer Salah of Maghrib and Isha here. Pilgrims spend the night in the open air, sleeping on the bare desert floor without any comfort. Here, they also have to collect all the pebbles at once to perform Rami-al-Jamarat in the coming days.

These are some of the essential places pilgrims have to visit during Hajj pilgrimage.
