All households have that one room whose size gets compromised. Rather than worrying about the congestion, thinking about styling through creative imagination and surfing top interior design magazines will offer more solutions. These tips and tricks might be helpful as solutions too.

Dark Path

Do away with the myth that dark colors make a room look shrinked. As per one of the studies, humans see light-colored objects as taller than dark-colored objects. It’s just an illusion effect but there are certainly some criteria for choosing the right color. Checking the same color during both day and night is one. A room that has access to sunlight will make the dark color look faded. Once the right dark shade is chosen, the first step towards decorating a small room is achieved.

Bed and its neighbourhood

A floor or low-lying bed with a petite headboard reflects effortlessness. The same can also be added to a room by making storage space underneath the bed and doing away with the closets. Using a day bed will make room for additional space. The other way out is customise bed size as per the room dimensions. ...

Let walls do the talking

One way to go about it through built-in shelves, racks, study tables, and even pull-out seating. Another way of doing it is with wallpaper. And here the choice has to be bright and loud. One thing to keep in mind is the wall size to cover, going quirky with wallpaper print, an entire wall cover will be a mistake, instead, opt for a cozy corner that will brighten up the whole room and make it look spacious.

Scale and Strategise

While decorating a tiny space, even the smallest item in the room will make a difference. Every inch has to be strategized; every nook has to be scaled. Right from a small decorative item like a flower vase to a piece of furniture to furnishing has to lend in seamlessly. With furnishings, never go overboard with the linens. The other way around is to do layering: same tones of throw pillows for say should be put together for a palatial look. With furniture, aim to bring in multipurpose or foldable pieces. A console that also acts as a dressing table and that can also be folded. Also, unexpectedly, putting up large pieces in a small area can make the space look huge. The theory here is too overpowering something small with something large.

Light can do wonders

Light can make or break a space. Especially reflecting light creates an illusion and makes a room look grand. Add a huge size mirror in order to achieve a brighter and bigger feel. The plus point is, a mirror also makes it to the category of a necessary decoration item. A trick to keep in mind is to opt for mirror length as per the average body height of the individuals in the house and place it against a protruding wall if possible. Also, accessory lights can deviate the attention from a small room space. Choose from a stand-out chandelier and or a vintage pendant style.
