The places that cannot be described with the word beauty only, places that have their own essence and words fall short for describing this experience, these are the places that one knows as ecotourism destinations in India. When one tries to express what they feel about these beautiful places, words might not do justice to it and it can be best understood only when one himself/herself visit these places. A person who understands the idea of ecotourism will always lookout for new places that can be explored in a new way while maintaining the essence of every place and enjoying its beauty in the best way possible.

One should not just go for an eco-tour with the aim of relaxing and finding peace but they should also try to explore new things that the place has to offer, the culture there, the kind of flora and fauna there. Ultimately one should utilize their time in the most productive way because whenever we are in the arms of nature, we tend to find peace and even with peace and relaxation, one can be a part of other exciting activities. While the idea of ecotourism is still enlightening more number of people, many states in India play a very important role in promoting this idea and making people aware about the importance of protecting the environment. Some of the states that contributed in the best way possible are:

1. Himachal Pradesh:

Himachal Pradesh is one of the most famous place that sees maximum footfall every year which in turn results in commercialization. Since so many tourists are visiting this place, it is very important that they enjoy nature without causing any harm to it and to promote this idea, the Ecotourism society in Himachal leaves no stone unturned to provide all the important information to the tourists about different eco ways in which they can enjoy the nature, the exciting things they can be a part of without sacrificing on fun and the small things that they can do to contribute towards protecting the environment in their own way.

2. Ladakh:

Ladakh is a place that tops the bucket list of every person who loves to travel. Whether it is a bike trip to Ladakh or a beautiful and long car drive, it is always fun to visit this place no matter how little you have to struggle for breathing. Ladakh is one of the most famous places when it comes to ecotourism destinations in India and apart from great heights, it has more things to offer like Hemis National Park, Trekking all way long, Ancient monasteries and many more.

3. Delhi:

Delhi being the capital, caters to more people and with never-ending efforts by different ecotourism societies and communities, we have come a long way by successfully reducing the carbon footprint and getting more active participation by other people who genuinely care for nature and strive to ensure that everyone can enjoy this beauty in a sustainable way. New ecotourism spots are being explored and many places are being revamped so that with enjoyment also, people do care for nature which in turn will increase tourism.

4. Assam:

When it comes to sustainable tourism development in India, Assam is a state that with its positive outlook and cultural essence makes sure that every person there or any tourist that visits the place becomes the part of nature in the most sustainable and efficient way. This place that is famous for its tribes has always tried to promote the idea of ecotourism for which young youth here too set up eco-camps to spread as much awareness as possible. Kaziranga National Park is the most visited place in Assam by tourists from all around the world.

5. Kerala:

Kerala is the first place to execute ecotourism in India. With warmth and love, they welcome tourists from all over the world and make for a perfect ecotourism destination. There is an infinite number of tea plantations and garden that can be visited by people to enjoy a nature walk or just with an aim to trek around and explore the place. Thenmala Ecotourism Project is the most important initiative in South India.


With continuous efforts of people towards travelling in a more sustainable and better way, there will come a day when nature will be in its best shape, with no threat to it, the time where everyone will actually care for nature and be a part of it and this day will mark the beginning of a new tourism- Ecotourism.
