Is Applying Exterior Paint On The Interiors Possible?
Some people love to experiment on their walls to give it a personal touch. If you are one of them thinking about interchanging exterior paints for your interior project, this is for you.
Talking about indoors, either of the paint is fine for the indoors. However, as both have different purposes, it might not serve the purpose it is made to serve. Therefore, firstly, let us have a look at for what purposes it is formulated.
Exterior paint
Exterior wall paints are formulated in a way to uphold the outdoor situation. High quality paints for exteriors such as Water-based (latex) paints are made with acrylic based flexible resins to enable its expansion and contraction with the surface as per the weather. Being weatherproof, it changes accordingly as the weather fluctuates from stifling hot to freezing cold. Also, having additives with UV-blocking feature, it is designed to prevent the exteriors from fading untimely due to everyday exposure to the sunlight. Not just that, its other additives safeguard walls from stains and fungus, and also dust in Nepal, protecting the paint from bleeding through staining woods. ...

Interior paints
Interior paints, however, are formulated to endure scrapes and bumps caused by people against walls and woodwork. As people get a closer view of it than of exteriors and as it endures everyday scrubbing and dusting, it contains additives and resins to offer a smoother finish so it can last longer. It also has additives that reduce paint spatter while applying with a roller or brush.
Secondly, we also need to see if it has the same effect on the air quality of the interiors.
Indoor paints have a minimal odor due to environment and health concerns, which also means minimal to no hazardous emissions. However, exterior paints are not the same. Its chemical fumes contain harmful mildews, volatile organic compounds, and other harmful components that can float in the air. Such airborne chemicals can lead to throat and eye irritation and even more harming to people with breathing issues.
Conclusion
Exterior paint is usable on the interiors, however, you should still stick to indoor paints. It might appear it is a better choice, due to its withstanding rough conditions capabilities, but as indoor paints are designed to bear the indoor issues, it will be better.
In terms of variety as well, it is a better option because external paints have 3 different finishes – Semi-gloss, Gloss Enamel, and Flat, while internal have 6 - including Eggshell, Matte, and Satin.
