Accreditation and Affiliation

There's a difference between a degree and a diploma. That we all know, well that's the primary difference here too. MBA (Master of Business Administration) is a degree and that either only universities can offer or their affiliated institutes. UGC (University Grants Commission) accredits the curriculum of the MBA course. Whereas, the autonomous institutes cannot provide a degree. For that matter, the postgraduate course under management comes as a diploma and the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) regulates this one.

Academic Differences

Even though we mentioned that both courses prepare you in administration and management processes, but their approaches differ on a significant scale.
If you want to learn through a theory approach then MBA is the course for you, but, if you're going to focus on operational and technical aspects giving you real-life exposure, then PGDM might be the right choice for you. Also, please don't confuse it with one-year PGP courses that many private institutes offer.
