Miniature gardening is fun, especially for them who enjoy gardening. Even the amateurs with no basic knowledge of gardening can try their hands in miniature gardening. As most of them can be easily designed and can be simply accomplished. There are endless options to create miniature gardens. All you have to rely on is your imaginative skill.
To start with a miniature garden, you will first need a container. The whole design may revolve round the container you have selected. It is not that you have to start your project in a new pot. Here are some tips on containers where you can start growing your garden.
Broken pot miniature garden
You may have discarded a terracotta pot because it is broken. Why don’t you create your miniature garden in that pot? If you have that broken pot piece, you can try to decorate the garden with them. Even if you have lost them, you can try to make use of the pot. Adding figurines and different small trees, will give your pot an entirely new look.
Mini garden in utensils
If you have a bowl that you do not use quite often or a small portion of it is broken, start your ...
... small garden in that. You do not need too much stuff. You can just pick up few stones, color it and add to the bowl. Keep a tree or two in that bowl. Keep it in a corner of your room and see how the entire décor changes with this small addition.
Needless to mention the container can be a tea pot, a beautiful cup, a basket or a tray. Even the old and unused barbecue can be revamped into a magical little garden.
Fairy garden in unused stuff
If you search through the house, you are going to find something that is laying there unused for long like a suitcase, an old drawer or old fashioned furniture piece. You cannot throw it out either. It is a good idea to use them as your container to form the garden.

Create your own container
You can always try to create your own container. It can be of clay, wood, stones or other materials. You can also involve kids in such DIY projects. They will love to help you and share their fascinating ideas.
Miniature garden in a garden
It is not that you cannot make a miniature garden outside the container. It can be on the side of your lawn as well, beneath some large trees or inside the bird bath of your garden. If you manage to find a small space where you can grow tiny plants and decorate it as per your wish, go ahead your dreamland project. There is no hard and fast rule; all you have to do is select some petite plants that grow really slowly.
Whatever container you select, make sure that each one of them has proper water outlet. Without proper drainage your container or at worst your entire garden will be damaged. If you are going to place it on furniture, always remember to put a tray beneath to avoid the furniture from being damaged.
