Learn The Difference Between Verb And Adverb In Easy Steps

Let’s learn the difference between verb and adverb i.e these two important parts of speech in English grammar.
Verb:
A verb is a word used to describe an action or a state. A verb acts as the main part of the sentence and plays major role in giving proper meaning to the sentence. You cannot form a sentence without verb. Verbs are the only kind of word that changes to show past, present or future tense.
Verbs are of different forms. They are phrasal verbs, action verbs, and helping verbs.
Action verbs are used to express specific actions like run, jump, sing, dance etc.
For Example:-
• He runs
• I go to school daily
• We ate
Phrasal Verbs are not single words. Phrasal verbs are combination of words that use together to give a different meaning to the original verb.
Some examples of phrasal verbs are
• Make out
• Go through
• Hang out
Helping verbs are often called as auxiliary verbs. The main purpose of these verbs is to help the main verb in the sentence to form proper meaning to the sentence. Some of the examples ...

Adverb:
Adverb serves as a modifier. It modifies the meaning of a verb, adjective, or other adverb. It provides greater description to verb, another adverb or adjective. In simple terms, adverb is a word which describes verb.
For Example:-
• Cheetah runs fast. In this sentence, the word run is verb and the word fast is adverb.
Adverbs can be classified into five basic types. They are adverbs of time, adverbs of manner, adverbs of place, adverbs of degree and adverbs of frequency. Let’s see brief explanation to understand them.
• Time :give information of the time at which the verb takes place. For example, he has arrived lately to the party.
• Manner: provide information about how a verb is done. For example, Seetha washes her clothes neatly.
• Place: give the place where the verb is happening. For example, he went outside to get some water.
• Degree: indicate the intensity of the verb. For example, it was too dark to see through.
• Frequency; explain how frequently the verb happens. For example, never go to the beach during cyclone.
