Google Suggestions Gets An Upgrade

While Google’s suggestion search feature is nothing new it has become a very useful tool to many. I actually tweak my search queries when I see something that would probably give me better results. Recently Google decided to improve their suggestions search to include names and all spelling errors in 31 different languages. In addition, they now provided localized suggestions.

The localized Google Suggest is a very smart and useful tool. Google provides an example of its use on the Google Blog:

Think about searching for information on your favorite local venues, or better yet, a local musician that you’ve been trying to get more information on.

The new feature on misspelled names will definitely prove to be useful considering the many variations of Corey, Alicia and Caitlin. Apparently the new feature allows you to search for a name with a detail and will give you results based on that instead of the actual spelling of the name.

... for many of my bilingual friends. Even I have found myself using Google as a spell check for Spanish words; but for many words it didn’t work so I would have to go to a translator site. This should help save me time next time around.

These little optimizations are what keep Google in the lead of the search engine industry.
