• Vaccination certificates are necessary for every individual – men, women, children.

Performing Umrah Alone; Muslim Men

Muslims men are allowed to perform Umrah alone. There are no restrictions made by Saudia Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in this regard. Muslims men can easily book their umrah package and are capable of traveling alone to the kingdom for the performance of Umrah.

Performing Umrah Alone; Muslim Women

In the past, Muslim women weren’t allowed to travel alone for umrah. As per the Saudi rules;

I. Women under 45 years of age cannot perform umrah by their selves and must have to be accompanied by their mahram for performing umrah. The women also have to show proof of mahram relations during the visa procedure.

II. Women who are older than 45 years, can travel for umrah alone. However only when traveling for pilgrimage with relatives or in organized groups. In addition, they must obtain NOC (No Objection Certificate) duly signed by their mahram.

However, things have changed now. As part of the “Saudi Vision 2030” plan, to boost the country’s economy and tourism, the government has started issuing tourist visas. These visit visas are also valid for performing umrah. Furthermore, women can now travel alone to perform umrah. They no longer need to be accompanied by their mahram during umrah.
