There are many reasons why you might choose to own a gun-protection, competition, hunting, collection - all are perfectly valid. Owning a gun can, however, come with a number of unforeseen accidents or injuries. You never know when you’ll be forced to use your firearm. Or, what if your firearm is stolen from you and used for criminal purposes? As the gun owner, you will be held responsible. To ensure that you are completely covered, XINSURANCE offers customized Firearms Liability Insurance, so that you may rest easy, knowing that you are protected.
Almost 200,000 people are injured as a result of firearms annually. Nearly 1,000 are killed as a result of a weapons mishap. Take, for instance, a case from 2014, where a nine-year-old with an Uzi gunned down her shooting instructor at a shooting range about an hour from Las Vegas. The instructor let the girl fire the Uzi on her own, and the recoil on the gun sent it straight in the air, subsequently hitting the instructor in the head with a bullet. He died later that night.
Two ...
... years later, in 2016, the family of the shooting instructor filed suit against the gun range, claiming, “The Uzi was not a safe or appropriate weapon to entrust to a 9-year-old girl like the Child Shooter, which caused her to lose control of the weapon when firing.”
“The Uzi was an inappropriate and unsafe weapon to entrust to a 9-year-old girl like the Child Shooter, thereby creating an unreasonably dangerous and unsafe environment for individuals in the area, including Charles J. Vacca, Jr.,” states the lawsuit.
Or take a case from 1995, where a sixteen-year-old boy stole a .44 magnum, traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, and killed two restaurant employees in front of customers. The boy went to jail, of course, but the gun owner got sued. A prior case, in 1994, ruled that a gun show promoter could be held liable for the use of a stolen weapon. He was ordered to pay $400,000 in that case.
