In What Way do the Indoor Plants Differ from their Outdoor Counterparts?
Originally, all kinds of plants were outdoor plants, but some are now classified as houseplants or indoor plants. This is due to their extended natural life, their low forbearance for cool temperatures, and their skill to flourish in containers. Therefore, the main difference between the indoor and outdoor plants
mainly counts on their temperature tolerance.
All plants that have the ability to tolerate the temperature, ranging from 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit are classified as indoor plants. When these plants are grown outside, they will wither quickly when the outside temperature will exceed their specified limit. Most of the indoor plants are also commonly referred to as tropical plants, as they enjoy both the humidity, as well as the warm temperatures,
meaning they can thrive without the sunlight.
When comes to outdoor plants, they have the ability to survive or grow at an extensive range of temperatures. Most of these plants are being marketed according to the zones, as well. They are classified into 11 robustness zones, ...
... ranging from 1 to 11. For example, Alaska comes under zone 1 and
Hawaii comes under zone 11. Therefore, buying your outdoor plants with the right zonal category will allow you to keep up their overall health in an easy and effective way.
Some plants are classified as indoor and outdoor plants, as they will be capable of tolerating both the indoor, as well as the outdoor temperature. Many such indoor plants will thrive well during the hotter months, as well. Similarly, several outdoor plants can do well with the cool temperatures or indoor temperatures.
As numerous houseplants are considered tropical, they will develop well in the moist outdoors. Their breezes will be capable of repelling indoor plant insects as well as the fungal infections. If you would like to shift such indoor plants to outdoors at night hours, you are supposed to wait until the temperature
arrives more than 50 degrees Fahrenheit. However, it is vital to place these plants in a partly shaded place. This is for the reason that most houseplants cannot put up with the full light of the sun.
Similarly, you can grow certain species of outdoor plants indoors, including vegetable plants. These plants will thrive well when they are placed near the windows facing the south direction. This will allow these plants to get enough sunlight for five hours. Dwarf variety outdoor plants, such as peppers and
tomatoes will not only occupy less space, but they will also grow well. You can also consider growing other herbal variety plants in indoors.
Another major difference between the indoor and outdoor plants is the light. Although both types of plants need the required lighting, they differ only for the light they receive and according to their varieties. Usually, all types of outdoor plants need more light when compared to that of indoor species.
While the outdoor plants get the sunlight directly from the sun, indoor varieties get their required light through the windows. Indoor plants that need little light from the sun are supposed to be placed in a place where there is more shadow. Likewise, outdoor plants that require more sunlight should be placed
where there is a possibility of getting less shadow.
