Elaine Marinoff’s Memoir An Inspiration To Emerging Artists
1888PressRelease - Painter’s road to success highlights opportunities over obstacles in Treasures: The Memoir of an Artist.
NEW YORK – Born in Los Angeles to immigrant parents who fled the Ukraine, accomplished artist Elaine Marinoff remained in the city until age 49, when she left her old life behind and moved to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a fine artist. And it proved to be the right move: she became a prolific figure painter and key player in the New York art scene, highly regarded for her influential works.
But her path to success was not always direct nor easy, as she documents in Treasures: The Memoir of an Artist. Marinoff endured an oppressive marriage to a doctor, in which she was stifled by gender roles and social constraints of the 60s and 70s, that ended in divorce after 21 years. She faced sexism as an investor in the male-dominated commercial real estate industry in the 80s; and she witnessed the tragedy of 9/11 from her front porch.
Perceptive, insightful, and oftentimes humorous, the narrative follows Marinoff on her journey from a young art student in Paris to a highly acclaimed ...
... New York painter and, ultimately, a role model to artists, women, and anyone seeking to live authentically by trusting themselves.
“My mom was driven by passion and a fierce independence that enabled her to see roadblocks as mere speedbumps,” explained Marinoff’s son, Glendon Good. “I hope Treasures will serve as an inspiration to others to follow their dreams and not give up, no matter how long it takes to reach them. My mother’s path was circuitous, but in the end, she was where she was meant to be and achieved what she set out to accomplish.”
Treasures can be purchased online through SDP Publishing, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other retailers.
