Recession has affected everyone and the education field is no exception especially when it comes to financial aid. It is without doubt that more students will apply for financial aid this year as compared to previous years. This has put many parents in a dilemma as to whether or not to apply for financial aid. They are worried about losing a good opportunity if they applied for financial aid. This article helps parents get over this dilemma.

Students belonging to low-income families

No matter whether there is a slump in economy or not, students belonging to low-income families will have to apply for financial aid as they really do not have a better option. These students would typically need $40,000 to $50,000 which is not possible without financial aid. It is therefore best to apply for financial aid and hope for the best.

Students belonging to affluent families

These students do not need to worry since even if they are unable to get financial aid, they can very well afford the burden of the college fees and other expenses. However, whatever little they do get will not be a reason for rejecting ...
... students belonging to low-income or middle-income families. Hence, there is no reason for students belonging to affluent families to not apply for financial aid.

Students belonging to middle-income families

Students belonging to middle-income families are the ones who should face this dilemma more than others. Chances are that these students might not get financial aid. However, it is important to understand that colleges do not first give away admissions to those who have not applied for financial aid and then proceed to other applicants. There are a number of factors that are considered when applying for financial aid and hence, it is okay for students belonging to middle-income families to apply.

Apply for financial aid now instead of regretting later. It will not affect the admission process.
