You'll get to see diverse landscapes and enjoy varied experiences during your time spent in Spain, a fascinating country located in Southwestern Europe. The mountain ranges of the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa are rich in natural beauty, while the Atlantic northwest of the country has some charming cliffs. When you feel like unwinding on some fabulous beaches, there are the islands of the Canaries and the Balearic. While exploring the prominent cities of the country, you'll come across some great architectural masterpieces. All these spectacular attractions have placed Spain among the most visited countries in the world.

One of the most impressive attractions you'll get to visit during your cheap holidays to Spain is the Guggenheim Museum, which is located in Bilbao. It was designed by the American-Canadian architect, Frank Gehry. Blocks of limestone and titanium sheets were used to create this modern architectural masterpiece. The Santiago de Compostela Cathedral is yet another architectural wonder you must never miss while holidaying in this European country. It was built between the 11th and 13th centuries to honour and store the relics of the revered saint, St James. Pilgrims from different corners of the world have been walking the pilgrimage route to this cathedral since the Middle Ages. The interior of this church has retained its Early Romanesque style despite the transformation of the exteriors in the Baroque style between the 16th and 18th centuries.

Upon visiting the region of Costa del Sol located in the southern parts of Spain, you'll get to unwind on its majestic beaches. They are visited every year by the tourists from Northern Europe on the lookout for the sunniest destinations with pleasant temperatures. An increase in such tourists had initially given rise to some concerns of over-development. However, the government stepped in at the right moment to ensure that no damage was done to the natural landscapes, beaches, and the existing buildings. Besides visiting the beaches, you can also indulge in some outdoor activities while in Costa del Sol, such as golfing and yachting.

While enjoying your holiday in Spain, you'll be delighted to visit the white towns of Andalucia. Besides having a unique beauty, they also stand testimony to the long and intriguing history of the region. From a distance, they appear like white frost on top of a rough mass of rock. Among the most fascinating attractions is Arcos de la Frontera, which is home to a 137-metre cliff located at the end of its plaza. From this place, you can enjoy some fabulous views of the valley of orange, olive, and almond orchards. You can also shop for some ceramics and pottery at the shops located along the cobbled streets.
