India is a land famous for its natural highlights, like Lonar Lake, Hogenakkal Falls, and St. Mary’s Island. But we’re also a nation known for our architectural wonders, like the Taj Mahal, the Qutub Minar, and the Harmandir Sahib Temple. But monuments and natural wonders aren’t the only eye-grabbing highlights we boast as a country. Our urban landscape is also rich in infrastructural feats that amaze and delight. The creations of the top architecture firms in India, these structures are wonderfully designed and sensationally realised. Let’s look at 7 of these beautiful architectural wonders and what makes them so incredible.

Cybertecture Egg, Mumbai: A breathtaking 13-storey structure, the Cybertecture Egg is one of Mumbai’s most incredible buildings. Designed by architect James Law and Sir Ove Arup, it is a creation that’s as structurally outstanding as it is sustainable. It uses wind turbines and solar panels to generate electricity and even has a greywater recycling system.

Motisons Tower, Jaipur: This is actually a building made of humongous colorful ...
... petals, not real petals of course. And the petals keep changing color! The exquisite tower was built by Kothari Associates and was realized using the latest technologies, including Autodesk Revit.

EDRC, Chennai: Yet another wonderful modern architectural creation to look at, the EDRC was the second building, both in India and in Chennai, to be rated in the LEED-EB category. And the fact that the building is so incredibly designed isn’t the only thing that makes it stand out. The EDRC also holds the top spot on the list of green offices in the country!

Infosys, Pune: There isn’t just one Infosys building in India that has been exquisitely designed and executed, but the one in Pune is particularly fantastic. Designed to look like something straight out of the realm of sci-fi, this is also a building that’s extremely modern. It boasts advanced energy-saving systems and is thoroughly eco-friendly.

Statesman House, New Delhi: Located in the heart of Connaught Place, the Statesman House looks just as awesome as its name sounds. Currently an office complex, the building boasts architecture that harkens back to colonial times. This only makes the structure more impressive, even in circles comprising the top architects in India.

Niyamasabha Mandiram, Thiruvananthapuram: The Niyamasabha Mandiram isn’t just Kerala’s assembly building. It is also a man-made wonder. Why? Well, for one thing, it has approximately 9,237,231 white pillars holding it up! Built by the Kerala Public Works Department (KPWD), this is a building that even the most famous architects in India laud.

The South Asian Human Rights Documentation Centre, New Delhi: No other building in the country packs the kind of facade that the South Asian Human Rights Documentation Centre does. The entire structure looks too remarkable to be true, but it is true, and it is absolutely gorgeous.

Other than these phenomenal infrastructural wonders that our cities have given us, there are still more that are just as sensational: The Orange County Clubhouse, Ghaziabad, the Auroville Dome, Puducherry, TCS, Hyderabad, the Lotus Temple, Delhi, UB City, Bangalore, and the Kingdom of Dreams, Gurugram. Which of these beauties have you visited?
