Agriculture and farming is mainly dependent on weather and seasons. The perfect temperature, soil condition is important when it comes to the farming of different fruits, vegetables, grains and pulses. Indeed, crops need basics of moisture, warmth and sun to thrive. Occurrences of erratic weather are beyond human control. It is possible, however, to adapt to or mitigate the effects of adverse weather if a forecast of the expected weather can be obtained in time. Earlier farmers didn’t have a better understanding of weather and most of the farming tasks were done based on their predictions. Weather forecasting is a prediction on conditions of atmosphere depending on location and time. Every area has different predictions related to the condition of weather which makes pretty easy for the farmers to know how and what to do.

It is obvious that details of weather condition enable farmers to make an informed decision that will not bring losses to them.

Let’s have a look at some of the primary areas of farming that are affected by weather:

• Crop growth and irrigation:

An appropriate amount ...
... of moisture, light and temperature is important for the healthy growth of crops. Detailed weather forecast can help farmers in tracking growth status and make better decisions.

• Fertilizers timing and delivery:

One of the important decisions that a farmer has to make is determining the proper time and dosage rate of fertilizers. Weather forecast here helps farmers to know the right staus of the soil. If the soil is dry enough, it will wash away all the nutrients.

• Field workability:

There are some days when working on the field is not possible. It’s primarily dependent upon soil moisture and soil temperature. Accurate field-level weather information can help farmers assess the workability of their fields and become more efficient in their day-to-day operations.
