Saina Nehwal's Mother Behind Her Success

She was born in Hisar on 17 March 1990 Her father is Harvir Singh Nehwal and mother is Usha Rani Nehwal. She and her family still speak Haryavi language at home. Her sister is Chandranshu Nehwal.Her father is an agricultural scientist and was posted to Hyderabad on promotion. So Saina’s family shifted to Hyderabad from Hissar.

She completed her first few years of schooling at Campus school CCS HAU, Hisar. She finished 12th grade from St. Ann’s college for women at Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad.

After they shifted to Hyderabad, she took karate classes and won black belt in karate. But she wanted to pursue another professional sport. Badminiton was a natual choice as her mother, Usha Rani, was a state level badminton player in Haryana. Her father too was among the top players in the university. She started badminton training at the age of 8. Her mother used to say her that she should get medal in Olympics. She wanted to fulfil her mother’s dream. They both used to commute almost 25 km daily to learn badminton. Govardhan and Nani Prasad were her intial coaches and helped her to get good basics of badminton ...
... and motivated her a lot to take the sport as a profession and made her very competent and confident to play national level. She won under 13,16 and 19 in same year at the age of11. At the age of 16 she won Asian Satellite Badminton tournament.

After that she started taking coaching at Pullela Gopichand. Pullela Gopichand is a former Indian badminton player. Presently, he is the Chief National Coach for the Indian Badminton team

The work. he had done in her speed, strokes and fitness made her to get confidence to compete in international level. She said that she is lucky to have coach like Gopi Chand at her early stage of career. She won so many medals under his guidance. She won Olympics. She was the only Indian who won Bwf badminton world federation in all formats.She is the first Indian who won the medal in Olympics. She is the brand ambassador of Sahara India Pariwar. She campaigns all their products. She is the first Indian woman who won Philippines open tournament.She won goldnmedal in common wealth in 2010. In 2012 she won bronze medal in summer Olympics

She told that there are so many sacrifices and hard work of her parents and her coaches made her to put in this place. Her mother used to say ‘this is not enough, you have to achieve a lot’ . This motivated Saina Nehwal to do hard work and motivate her to get succeed. She used to practice 7 to 8 hours per day. In 2013 she wanted to improve her performance. So she left Hyderabad and went to Bangalore. She was trained at Vimal Kumar. She had worked on her strokes. The inspiration given by him made her won India Open, China Open, All England Open and World No.1 player. She believe herself. She give her best in every game. This made her to be in this place. She really worked hard. She wanted to achieve more in her life. She felt happy that she fulfilled some of her wishes.

When she felt tired she had done modelling for relaxing. She feel fresh and later she will come back again.

Saina Nehwal proved her mettle in 2006 when she became badminton under-19 National Champion, follow by victory in the prestigious Asian Satellite Badminton tournment. She is the first Indian to win World Junior Badminton Championships in 2008 and the first Indian to win Indonesian Open- a BWF Super Series in 2009. During London Olympics 2012, she became the first Indian to win a medal in Badminton by clinching a Bronze Medal in the mega event.At present she has won several accolades and rewards. In 2014, Saina Nehwal won Women’s Singles of India Open Grand Prix Gold Tournament in january, followed by Australian Super Series in June. Now she has been declared as World No. 7 badminton player.

Marriage: She married fellow badminton player, Parupalli Kashyap in a private ceremony on 14 December 2018. He is also a professional badminton player. He got Arjun award in 2012 by Government of India.
