One Of The Most Stunning Treks In Manali: Prashar Lake Trek

I love trekking and I have gone on a few treks already. Yet, every time I hear of a new trek, I'm as excited as I was when I had done it for the first time.
One of my favourite treks is the Kashmir Great Lakes trek. We all know how stunning Kashmir is. The high snow-capped mountains, green pastures and mesmerizing lakes are so captivating that you will fall in love the minute you set your foot on this paradise. Over the years, poets and storytellers have praised Kashmir through their work, photographers are stunned by its beauty and every traveller sure has Kashmir on his ‘Places to Visit' in India list. And after being to this place, I know why people are so head over heels in love with it.
During my Kashmir Great Lakes trek, I walked through maple forests, pristine meadows, bright and colourful flowers devouring in this nature's beauty. And the part that I enjoyed the most was camping at night next to those serene lakes, with the skies filled with stars above. Right from pine forests to cows grazing, and the happy lambs and horses roaming around, everything here is simply gorgeous.
I was scrolling through ...
... some of my pics from Kashmir and I started missing the mountains. So after some financial planning and leave planning, I managed to book my seat on the trek to Prashar Lake.
Prashar Lake is in Himachal Pradesh, 50 km north of Mandi. It’s a short trek, but I didn’t have much time so I thought I would go anyway. This is an easy trek so even if you're a beginner you won't find it difficult. Somehow, it was actually nice to do a short one – like training for the next big one I’m planning.
My itinerary for the Prashar Lake trek
From Manali, we caught a cab to Baggi which is the starting point for the trek. Baggi is just about 2 hours away from Kullu. After reaching Baggi my trek began.
After 4-5 hours I reached the lake right in time for a hot cup of tea. Prashar is serene and the experience of staying here is beautiful. I camped with other trekkers on the banks of the lake and relived my memories of Kashmir while lying on the grass under the stars.
The next morning, we all woke up to hot tea and the best aloo parathas I’ve ever tasted. We headed on to explore the lake a bit. Everyone took photos and enjoyed the views, and I saw one trekker who was sketching it too. What a nice habit – I think I might try it next time.
Finally it was time to head back, so we returned to Manali. The Prashar Lake trek is one of the most popular treks and can be done with children and family as well. You can do this trek if you’re in Kullu or Manali. It's easy and ideal for beginners.
Shewta enjoys trekking but didn’t have enough leave to do a long trek, so she chose the Prashar Lake trek instead.
