Adopting a female cat is a fun experience, but it requires total commitment from your side as well. You have to bathe her, feed her, and medicate with medicines from the best veterinary bolus manufacturer in India. Sounds like a lot of effort, right? Well, these efforts get doubled when your cat becomes pregnant.

During this juncture, your four-legged friend will be dependent on you for her well-being. To come out triumphant from this situation, here are some tips on how to take care of your pregnant cat.

1. Veterinary care for your pregnant cat

As a responsible owner, you must detect the first signs of pregnancy in your cat. For example, if your cat mated during her heat phase, you will notice the nipples near her abdomen ‘pinking-up’ or her constant vomiting during the first three weeks of her pregnancy. In that case, immediately take her to your vet for a check-up. Through ultrasound, your vet will detect whether she is pregnant or just ill.

Once you receive confirmation your cat’s pregnancy, get proper advice on how to take care of your cat during her life’s most crucial phase. From ...
... vaccinating your cat with medicines from the best veterinary injection manufacturers in India to routine check-ups, prepare a proper schedule in consultation with your vet.

2. Pay attention to her nutrition

During your cat’s pregnancy, you must feed your cat high-quality food formulated for growth. It will not only keep the mother healthy but also provide essential nutrients to her kittens.

In the early weeks of her pregnancy, make sure you don’t overfeed her. While she needs all the necessary nutrients to keep herself and her babies healthy, the extra calories can cause her to be overweight, which can affect her movement. Hence, monitor her food throughout her pregnancy period. Small meals four to six times a day will be sufficient for her.

3. Create a hospitable environment

Apart from taking your pregnant cat to the vet and paying attention to her nutrition, you must also create a hospitable environment for her. If she finds your home to be safe, quiet, and relaxing, it will keep her in good spirits during her pregnancy period.

The ideal way of proceeding is to prepare a cardboard box or laundry basket, fill it with warm blankets, put your cat in the said box/basket and tuck her away to the safest and quietest area in your home. Also, make sure to close all windows and doors, so that your cat doesn’t sneak outdoors on its own. Instead, take her out on walks under your supervision, which will be a good change of pace for her.

Just like humans, pregnancy can be restless and an anxious experience for your cat, which is perfectly normal. However, applying these tips will make your cat comfortable with her condition, which will result in a successful pregnancy and a litter full of cute kittens!
