In our busy lives, we often forget to maintain and take care of the most important parts of our body, our teeth being one of them. We eat different kinds of food, sometimes too hot or cold, too spicy or too sour, and thus our teeth go through a lot everyday. It is very hard to brush our teeth after every meal and even brushing twice becomes a difficult job. In this manner, we end up having cavities and holes in our precious teeth. If you have children, you will know how hard it is to keep them away from chocolates and sweets. It is very necessary to have a regular check-up done at a dental clinic, else later you might require implants. Apart from normal services there are also emergency dentist services in Brisbane, for all kind of emergency needs one might have regarding their mouth.
Urgent dentist calls are usually given out if the person had suffered any kind of accident or injury related to his mouth. It can occur from a simple fall or a major ...
... accident. Dentists receiving such calls are available 24/7. A chipped tooth to a whole displaced jaw, all are examples of minor and major emergency needs. Given below are some situations and the solutions or rather precautions you can take while there’s been an accident.
When a baby tooth is knocked out
The tooth or teeth should never be tried to put back in its socket otherwise it will cause injury to the upcoming permanent teeth or tooth and also to the site of injury.
A dentist should be immediately consulted to check whether all portions of the tooth has been knocked out so that there is a clean pathway ready for the permanent teeth to grow.
To control the bleeding, you should apply direct pressure to the injured area with a clean cloth and you can also use an ice pack to minimalize the swelling.
When an adult tooth is knocked out
You need to locate the tooth or teeth and wash it quickly in water or milk.
It is important to place the tooth in its right position within 5-10 mins of it being knocked out.
The patient or the injured person has to hold the tooth in its place until treatment can be received. This can be done by biting on a piece of clean cloth or wearing a mouthguard. The person giving the first aid can also hold it by wrapping both the knock out tooth and the damaged portion, together in an aluminium foil.
If it is nearly difficult to place the teeth back n its socket, then it must be kept moist by placing it in a small amount of milk or saline until a dentist is consulted.
Whether in doubt about the teeth’s nature – primary or secondary, it should be placed back in, otherwise later can be a cause of greater damage.
Immediate treatment should be sought in such cases, as time is critical in such situations.
Consult an emergency dentist today in Brisbane, if you think there is some problems that need immediate attention.
