Marmaris has undergone an amazing transformation over the years from being a sleepy little fishing village until the late 20th century to becoming one of Turkey's most popular tourist destinations. This port city is located in the Mugla Province along the Turkish Riviera's shoreline. In recent times, it has also become a popular place for diving and sailing. Upon getting to the Marmaris Harbour, you can unwind in any of the bars, restaurants, and pubs lined up along the promenade. Among the most fabulous beaches you can visit during your time spent in this city is Uzunyali, also known as Long Beach.
During your holiday in this part of Turkey, you can also indulge in some thrilling activities outdoors. One of them is a scuba diving expedition, which allows you to witness some fascinating marine beings underwater. You can take a sunset cruise from the Marmaris Harbour, which also includes a delicious Turkish dinner on the traditional Gulet boat. The journey across the sea would allow you to witness some mesmerising sights and enjoy some serene moments. A full-day Jeep safari takes you far from the crowded places to a small village and waterfalls in the mountains.
While in Marmaris, you'll also get to savour some mouth-watering delicacies of the Turkish cuisine. They include popular starters like Hummus, which is a chickpea dip. Some of the main dishes eaten widely are Kuzu Guvec or lamb casserole, kebabs prepared using olive oil, and Kofte. If you are a vegetarian, you can try fried aubergine and pepper, which is served with garlic and yoghurt. Another excellent dish for vegetarians would be Rice Pilaf, which is made using rice, lentils, white beans, vegetables, and chickpeas. Don't forget to taste the delicious Turkish sweets, such as Baklava, Lokma, and Helva.
