Disclaimer Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz in 1998, where they had to share their cultures. Having strong IT foundations, Chrysler became the first to adopt the mass email system different from email systems in Europe. It enabled all the teams under the companies to use one global network, which lead to sensible cost reduction in the company. The only challenge with this technology was the language difference between British English used by German engineers and American English.

In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Chrysler pushed for the use of collective design software using the CAD/CAM and IBM’s CATIA systems, which were to guarantee that whatever was on the drawing board would meet the finished product specifications. It became effective in replacing the labor shortage cutting down the development cost and the time used for development. Due to the mass production of cars, this technology left about 50 vehicles scraped because of wrong fittings and holes drilled in the wrong places. In the present, General Motors Corporation is one of dominating vendors of powerful processor chips and it is a great topic for ...

In the early 2000’s, Chrysler developed a system that further linked the company with its vendors and customers. It improved the scale of demand and supply, which allowed the inventory managers and vendors monitor the speed of flow of the parts. The proposed system saved the company billions of money in improved orders and constantly reduced stock.

Daimler-Benz, on the other hand, tried to adopt IBM’s CATIA system in order to replace the entire system, which was extremely decentralized. Each of Daimler’s branches had opened its own IT workshop working independently. It crippled the communication process making the entire process either postponed or not to work at all. It also resulted to the company spending more money to facilitate the data transfers and the entire system.

The merger of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler will work if they combine their two cultures. One company was IT–oriented, while the other was on to the manual system. Most of the Chrysler’s IT inventions and proposals will be realized. The CAD/CAM and IBM’s CATIA systems will be implemented because it was a way of minimizing the labor and development costs and ensuring that what they implement on the board was what to be expected in the final specifications. This system will also promote the number of production because with this system cars and spare parts were customized and mass-produced.

Having a centralized system has proven cost effective in every way. So, the linking of mass email systems from different email systems in Europe will enable all the teams and management of companies to use one global network, which leads to sensible cost reduction in the company. It will also bridge the geographical distance between the assembly plants.

Linking of vendors, inventory managers and the company’s global network to monitor the speed of parts flow has improved the scale of demand and supply, which allowed inventory managers and vendors to save billions of money in reducing stock and improving the ordering system. It will also make the follow up of statistics easier because they can be found centrally.

The use of online system can be the easiest way to operate but it also has the most risks. Having a centralized system means that the information has to be accessed remotely, making it prone to data loss and unauthorized access. It will make confidential information have the risk of exposure. Therefore, the companies have to put in place securities like firewalls to put hackers away, and antivirus software to shield the system from malware and virus attacks. The company will have to put access control methods to restrict entry to the less privileged users.

Each of the systems implemented helps the company realize its profits and cut costs and expenditures as much as possible. Having implemented a system that links different mailing systems, Chrysler will enable all the teams under the companies to use one global network. It is fast and cost effective mail to run in the company with the easiest means of operation. The only challenge with this technology was the language difference between British English of German engineers and American English, which could bring about a communication breakdown.

Chrysler adopted the CAD/CAM and IBM’s CATIA systems, which had an advantage of minimizing the labor and development costs, and ensuring that what they implement on the board was what to be expected in the final specifications. The designs ensured minimal time of production because the system will promote the number of production by producing system cars and spare parts in bulk. The problem experienced with this system is that accidentally some cars will be scraped because the holes were not drilled correctly.

The introduction of these systems helped the company maximize its profits and cut down its costs. The IBM systems limited errors during the designing stages and creating more cars in less time. The cost of labor also was cut because the system replaced some human resources. The process also developed in a steady pace because the system does not have working hours and requires less supervision. It in turn saved the company billions of dollars making the company financially flexible.

The Daimler-Benz implemented a system that was decentralized and more expensive to run because every company and branch had its own IT system. The cost of setting up of these systems is high because they have many firms to be run. The process of fetching information from all these firms is cumbersome.

Merging of these two companies needs to come up with a common culture. Daimler-Benz was German company, while Chrysler was an American company. It could be a barrier to success because Germany engineers learnt British English, while Americans were speaking their own English. These languages have slight differences, hence when engineering terminologies are mixed up then the results also become invalidated.

The two companies have different models and systems. Merging of these two companies and having a common system is a restriction because they have different orders from different users and vendors. Having a system that will interpret these systems and have a common response will be complicated. The two companies must agree and understand the new system because if the two companies do not propose the system it will be cast aside.

Managing a centralized system often leaves the whole system vulnerable to a number of threats. Company data are often confidential, so unauthorized access will have to be restricted by implementing sophisticated access control mechanisms to restrict an unauthorized entry. The data and the system as a whole will have to be extra protected because if they fail it will cripple the entire merger. The proposed system by Disclaimer-Chrysler is a system that is cost effective to the company. The company will be able to produce more vehicles with a much lower production cost. The centralized method will be flexible and save time, as well.
