The Expert’s Guide For Choosing Best Internet Package Or Service

Almost everyone who is a part of the Digital Universe is either getting frustrated or looking for a better internet service provider. Let’s be honest here, whenever we choose a new Internet plan or a provider, everything in the world seems good. Soon after the service goes to trash, most of us switch to another provider and the rest keep on complaining hoping to get better services. How to end this endless cycle and what to look for while choosing a new service provider or internet connection.
What’s Your Need For The Internet?
Before choosing a plan or a provider, ask yourself, “Why do I use the internet?”. No need to spend hundreds of bucks if you are only using internet for casual emails or a few minutes of social media surfing. You don’t need a connection that bleeds your pockets dry every month. Although if you are a millennial who spend most part of their day on the internet, Streaming or playing online games then you need an internet connection with lightning-fast speed!
Map Out All The Providers Near You
Most Cable Providers also provide Internet connection, so it makes most sense ...
... in getting a new package from your existing service provider. Or you can do a little research and find out all the best providers in your area! You can ask around with your neighbors or friends about the speed and customer service they get from their service provider. That way it may get easy for you to decide your "good & bad list”
Types of Internet Available
When the home internet hit the market, there was only one type present known as a dial-up connection. The speed was horrible, and you had to have a landline connection at your home to use that service.
Now technology has changed drastically and there are multiple Internet connections available for use. Personally, I use a fiber optic service that gives me a brilliant download and upload speed.
Be thorough while choosing what type of internet connection you need! There are mainly 4 Type of internet you can choose from.
* Direct Subscriber Line: Direct Subscriber Line also known as a DSL connection is internet provided to you through a telephone line. This isn’t a Dial-Up connection, and it is much faster than a dial-up connection. It is fast enough to stream Netflix, online gaming. The downside is that internet speed significantly depends on your distance from the service provider. Which means the farther you are the slower your internet will be.
* Cable Internet: All the cable providers ask their customers to get a bundle package and get both TV and Internet in one deal. Which makes sense considering you are already using one service from them. Cable Internet connections provide 3 - 100+ Mbps speed. Which is more than enough to stream, download and play! The only problem is the data cap. If your provider is offering you an unlimited plan, then you should definitely go for it.
* Satellite Internet: The thing about satellite internet is that it can reach locations Cable or DSL connection can’t. You can use satellite connections anywhere, but they are very expensive to install and use. Plus, the speed isn’t that impressive when put up against Cable Internet. The speed range is somewhere close to 15Mbps downloading & 3Mbps Uploading. So if you are in a rural location, then the satellite connection is the best bet for you.
* Fiber Optic Service: As stated earlier, I use a Fiber Optic Service (FIOS). The download & Upload speed is incredible & I can use it for whatever use I want. Unfortunately for getting a Fios, you might have to move because Fios is only available in 16 states including California, Texas & Massachusetts. Also, Fiber optic services providers are also very limited. As of right now, only AT&T, Verizon and a few other providers have fiber optic services. If the service isn’t available where you live, then you can only wait.
Choosing an Internet Provider
Now that you are through with all the plans, type of internet you need and what options are available to you according to your location. It’s time to decide which Internet provider you will choose. Chances are if you are already using a home internet connection then your provider will try to hook you in by giving discounts or offers that would make you stay for few months. Keep your need in mind and choose the best provider in the area based on Internet Speed, Customer Service, Pricing and Service Reliability. It’s not that scary to switch to a new provider if you’ve done your research just go for it and I promise you’ll be fine.
