There is no mass interest in academic research papers, nor discussions that happens around it are limited only to academic professionals and researchers. The reason is that language it is written is far from being easily comprehensible, likewise academics who publish articles in scientific journals, and are obliged to translate for them in their blog, this group represents only a small fraction of general public. However the risk that Internet do brings about is that it shall inevitably creates an elite of people with Internet access and those who do not have the access and do not have the need for the Internet at all, or at large part of their personal or professional lives. But it has always been like that, the evidence of the fact that Internet creates a new form of empowerment for those who have the access over those who do not will further creates social inequality and drastic differences between societies and different nations. Where we like it or not, these are phases in the society we will have to adjust and adapt to and live with in the future.
