Among all the folders of Outlook Express, Inbox.dbx is likely to corrupt more easily and frequently. The reason is that Inbox changes the most with respect to its size. Being a single box to receive all incoming e-mails, its size grows rapidly and reaches to its default 2 GB file size limit, which raises the chances of corruption. So never save all your message in Inbox. Keep your Inbox small to reduce the risk of corruption. Ignoring the fact can ask for Recover Outlook Express solutions, which is never acceptable.

To be specific in such concerns, consider the further problem of Outlook Express. Each time when you attempt to receive an e-mail message in Outlook Express, the process might halt and you may observe the below error message:

There is not enough disk space. Account: (mail account), Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C013C.

As a result of the above error message, you are not allowed to receive any incoming e-mail with your Outlook Express account.

Explanation

Most likely, the problem occurs ...
... because of a corrupted Inbox.dbx file.

User Action

There is no built-in tool that might let you extract e-mails from a corrupted Outlook Express Inbox. However, you can workaround the issue and enable Outlook Express to work normal by renaming the corrupt Inbox.dbx file and then restarting Outlook Express. The detailed steps of performing so are mentioned underneath:

1)Close Outlook Express
2)Click 'Start' and point to 'Search;
3)Type 'Inbox.dbx' in the name box for files and folders and click 'Search'
4)Once the file is located, right-click it and click 'Rename'
5)Type 'Inboxold.dbx' and press 'Enter'
6)Start Outlook Express to get an error-free, empty Inbox

Usually, e-mails stored in Outlook Express Inbox are important. To retrieve these e-mails from corrupted Inbox, the only solution is to use a third-party Mail Recovery software built specifically to repair corrupted Outlook Express DBX files. Outlook Express Recovery software can scan a corrupted OE file and restore the file contents at a safe location.

One of the recommended solutions is Stellar Phoenix Outlook Express Recovery software. This Mail Recovery utility supports Outlook Express 5.x and Outlook Express 6.x and can extract e-mails in *.dbx and *.eml files. The software features an interactive user-interface plus compatibility with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000 operating systems.
