Amsterdam is a unique architectural attraction bestowed with natural floral bounty and a unique cultural heritage. A city which unlike other cities is rather pleasant and calm with the absence of skyscrapers and commercial business crowding the city and the presence of striking monumental houses and buildings that traces back many centuries back in history. The city is also famous for making drugs and prostitution legal and practiced openly. It is well known for its museums and galleries, bridges and beautifully decorated merchant's residences, diamond factories and cheese markets and long canal lined areas which are surrounded by gabled houses.

Here is a quick rundown on some of the famous tourist attractions you might not want to miss.

- Canal cruises:

It is a great way to explore the city on the first day of your visit to this city. There are innumerable canal cruises available and also are quite affordable. In the evenings, some cruises introduce a theme to the trip like having alcohol available to the tourists. The regular canal cruises are the best way to go to all the places in Amsterdam that might ...
... not be feasible through the streets in the city.

- Red Light District:

This is the oldest part of the town that is characteristic with its prostitution prevalent throughout the area. Except for very late nights this place is fun, safe and interesting to hand out in. Many of the cities cheapest hotels and hostels are available in this area thus it is famous amongst the younger tourists.

- Anne Frank House:

This is the actual place where Anne Frank and her family went into hiding from the Nazis for two years and where she wrote her world famous diary. It is definitely worth a visit for its historical significance.

- Van Gogh Museum:

The famous Amsterdam artist Vincent Van Gogh has been commemorated by the launch of this museum that has the largest collection of his artistic marvels in the world.

- Rijksmuseum:

Amsterdam sightseeing would definitely include this museum that has art works from various other artists and loads of exhibits that go far beyond paintings.

- Stedelijk Museum:

It is a modern art museum established on the same lines as the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum.

- Rembrandt House:

It was originally the residence of a famous painter and features hundreds of his artistic excellence. It is also equipped with 17th century furniture and other household objects used by the renowned painter when he used to reside here.

- Heinekein Brewery:

The old Heinekein Brewery allows you a tour into the brewery that is accompanied by a feast of three small glasses of Heinekein beer at the end of the tour plus some free gifts.

- Cannabis Museum:

Located in the Red Light District it is the only museum of its kind. The theme of the museum is solely based on marijuana cultivation and smoking. You could visit the place if curiosity persists otherwise it is not a very well organized museum.

Thus these are the various sightseeing hotspots of Amsterdam that you might want to include in your trip plan to the marvelous city.
