Different types of contaminants that pollute water resources and endangers species:

-Physical contaminants
-Biological contaminants
-Chemical contaminants and
-Other pollutants

Our attempt should be towards removing physical, chemical, biological and other pollutants from water. If we can remove these contaminants, there would not be any water scarcity in future. Our younger generation will not need to face any problems due to the industrial waste, sewage contaminants, effluents or run off type or domestic waste.

Water management solutions are provided by the effluent treatment plants. There are specialised machinery which are involved in treatment of waste water and thus ensures the right way of discharging effluents. House hold waste can also be minimised by the usage of green detergents so that they cause less pollution and to some extent avoid the damage caused due to these contaminants.

Green detergents are energy-efficient laundry detergent that cleans without hot water. Others are laundry detergents that cause less water pollution after they go down the drain. A range of artificial sweeteners are commonly used in food and drinks, as well as drugs and sanitary products. The potential health risks of artificial sweeteners have been debated for some time. Until now, only sucralose has been detected in aquatic environments. Through the use of a new analytical method, the researchers were able to look for seven different artificial sweeteners (cyclamate, acesulfame, saccharin, aspartame, neotame, neohesperidin dihydrochalcone and sucralose) simultaneously, and show, for the first time, that a number of commonly used artificial sweeteners are present in waste and surface water.

Atleast, to whatever extent you can reduce the effect of these pollutants, one must make an attempt!
