Medicare Supplement Plan N is definitely making a splash in the marketplace for Senior health insurance. However, when taking a closer look one finds the benefit package offered leaves something to be desired, and the price for this plan isn"??t much better than plans that offer much more coverage. Medicare Supplement Plan N does not cover the Part B deductible, and the consumer must pay co-payments for routine doctor visits and urgent care.

The annual Medicare Part B deductible for 2010 is $155, which means a person who purchases a Medicare Supplement Plan that does not cover the Part B deductible will have to pay the first $155 every year for Doctor and Urgent Care visits until their Medicare Supplement Plan picks up the remaining cost. Medicare Supplement Plan N does not cover the Part B deductible, and neither does Medicare Supplement Plan G.

The only Medicare Supplement Plan that requires you to pay a flat co-payment at the Doctor or for Urgent Care is Plan N. The co-payment for routine doctor visits is $20 and the co-payment for Urgent care is $50. While these co-payments aren"??t huge, there are plans available, ...
... such as Plan G and Plan F, where you will never have to pay any co-payments regardless of how many times you go to the doctor or see a specialist.

Why are people interested in Medicare Supplement Plan N? The bottom line is price. Medicare Supplement Plan N will be cheaper on a monthly basis. However, if you will need any Medical services at all, you will likely pay more in the long run and have greater out of pocket costs if you purchase Plan N. The experts at Medicare Supplement Shop only recommend Plan N if you are in extremely good health AND are on a tight budget. Keep in mind you will likely need more medical services as you get older and you only have on Guaranteed Issue period, which means you need to make a wise decision the first time you purchase a plan.

Medicare Supplement Plan F is still far and away the most popular Medicare Supplement Plan as it is the most comprehensive plan offered and the price is very affordable. With Medicare Supplement Plan F, you will see almost no out of pocket expenses (no co-payments and no deductibles) except for your monthly payment. Medicare Supplement Plan G is another great option and is exactly the same as Plan F, except you will have to pay the Part B deductible, which is $155 for 2010. However, Medicare Supplement Plan G is cheaper than Medicare Supplement Plan F on a monthly basis.

Experts are still recommending Plan F and most people are still purchasing Plan F. Saving money and reducing your total out of pocket expense is still very important, which is exactly why it is extremely important to contact an independent insurance broker who carries every company and plan and will offer unbiased advice based on your needs. While Medicare Supplement Plan N is a good option for people who are on a budget and in great health, it is not the best plan for everyone.
