Outlook’s internal function is just same as any other database function. Outlook PST is composed of indexes to locate its file objects for better performance and speed. In MS Outlook, these objects are emails, notes, calendar, contacts, tasks, appointments, outbox, sent items and many others. Since it is a hidden file, you need to first go to folder options and enable the viewing of hidden and system files or otherwise, you won’t be able to locate the file.


There are situations when the tool might fail. In such cases, you can delete the corrupted file and create a new one. This step is recommended only if you have latest and valid backup copy with you, otherwise you would be left with nothing.


Lastly if none of the above methods is going to work, then use third party PST Reader software.
