Kaffarah Of Breaking Sawm In Ramadan

Sawm typically meanings are abstaining from food, drink and all those deeds which are illegal in Islam. It is the mandatory Ibadah that is performed in the Holy month of Ramadan. Sawm begins from before the occurrence of the white line of the day and ends its decline. “And eat and drink until the white line of the day seems. Hence complete your fast until the dusk”. (Al-Quran)

If someone breaks the fast of Ramadan without any reason, so he/she has to compensate for the following penalties.
• Free a slave, if not possible then must keep two-months fast sequentially, if not possible then feed 60 Muslims poor.
If someone breaks the qadha of Ramadan after zawal, so he/she has to compensate for the following penalties.
• Feeding 10 Muslims poor, if not possible then fasting three days.
If someone breaks the fast of specified nadhr, so he/she has to compensate the given penalties.
• Free a slave, if not possible then feed 10 Muslims poor or clothing them, and also not possible then fasting for three days.
If someone breaks the fast by some prohibited thing such as wine, so he/she has to pay the given penalties.
• Free a slave, or 60 days fast, or feeding 60 Muslims poor. However, the first month of fasting must be kept consecutively and the rest of the month may be fasted with taking rest.
