The spot of Ashab e Suffah was initially on the north wall of the Masjid e Nabvi ﷺ and was moved back when the Masjid was extended in 7 AH. The Ashab us-Suffah were actually the Sahaba (Companions) of the Prophet (ﷺ) whose typical responsibilities to manage the multi issues of Madinah State.

Ashab e Suffah was indeed a platform where there were different kinds of Sahaba having expertise in a dissimilar walk of life such as forming, medications, livestock, woodworks, ironworks, and many more. They were all devoted, dedicated their lives exclusively for prayer and spiritual discipline in the close company of the Prophet (ﷺ).
People who go for Umrah or Hajj Packages through the Authorized Agents can find the spot of Ashab e Suffah on the right from Babe Jibrael. Moreover, the platform is behind where the Prophet (ﷺ) performed Tahajjud. Ashab e Suffah were those homeless and unmarried Muhajireen (companions of Muhammad who migrated from Mecca) who did not have families in Medina, resided in Al-Suffah where they were mainly learning the Quran and Sunnah. These people ...
... were called "Ashab al-Suffah", which translates to "Suffah Fraternity"

There is no authentic report regarding the numbers of Ashab e Suffah, however approximately it is estimated that there were three hundred Sahaba who devoted their lives for Islam.

Some of the most popular Ashab e Suffah were the following:

• Abu Huraira (RA)
• Abu Dhar al-Ghifari (RA)
• Ka’ab ibn Malik (RA)
• Salman al-Farsi (RA)
• Hanzalah bin Abi Amr (RA)
• Huzaifah bin Yaman (RA)
• Abdullah bin Mas’ood (RA)
• Suhaib bin Sanan Roomi (RA)
• Bilal bin Ribah (RA)

All the Ashab e Suffah passed their lives in the services of Prophet ﷺ by managing the State’s affairs. During the day time, they would listen to his words of wisdom and at night, after sleeping for a while, they would spend the rest of the time in prayer. Due to devotion, several were extremely poor and not in a position to afford the clothing. Because of their devotion and prayer, many of the Ashab us-Suffah were very poor and unable to afford to clothe. Abu Huraira (RA) stated, “I saw seventy of Ashab-us-Suffah in such a miserable condition that none of them had the complete dress for himself. Each one of them had one sheet that he tied up with his neck. Some of them had their sheets reach near their ankles but others’ sheets reached just below their knees. Each of them divided of his sheet with his hand lest his body was unprotected”.

Most of the Sahaba went for two days in a chain without food, so much that when the Prophet (ﷺ) came into the masjid to lead the congregational prayers, they would decrease because of feebleness. Food was given to them from the charity which was given to Prophet ﷺ.

Over and over again, the Prophet (ﷺ) would ask one of his other Sahabah to take some of the Ashab us-Suffah for supper and to entertain them as best they could. Sa’d ibn ‘Ubada (RA) sometimes offered food as many as eighty men at once. Today people also feel to visit their condition to visit that spot through Cheap Hajj Packages For Families in order to proceed the major pilgrimage.

Uqbah ibn-e- Amir (RA) stated: “Rasulullah ﷺ came to us whereas we were sitting on the ‘Suffah’ and asked if anyone of us would like to go to the market of ‘Buthan’ or ‘Aqiq’ and raise from there two she-camels of the best class without committing any sin or splitting a tie of relationship. We answered that every one of us would love to do so. Rasulullah ﷺ then said that going to the masjid and reciting or teaching two ayaat are more valuable than two she-camels, three ayaat are more valuable than three she-camels. And that similarly reciting or teaching of four ‘ayat’ is better than four she-camels and an equal number of camels.” [Muslim]
