Issues and challenges
The implementation of EHR is not an easy task, and there are several issues and challenges that are involved. The challenge that the team may encounter is with resistance from people. Not everyone in the organization may be on board with implementing and using the system. Some providers and patients may reject the EHRs or even give up when there are technical malfunctions (Ganchoff et al. 2005). Another challenge that may be encountered is with concern to privacy. Some patients and health care providers might be concerned with medical privacy when using EHRs that will greatly impact the effectiveness of the new system. The issue of communication can have a significant impact if there are no open lines of communication. Thus, the hospital should make sure that it offers a clear system of communication to ensure that the staff freely communicate and also receive feedback and updates on what is happening.
