The Sony Xperia XZ3 is undoubtedly one of the most trusted Sony mobile smartphones of the years. Therefore, its successor has some very large shoes to fill.

The new phone should be the usual Xperia XZ4, but Sony re-named the Xperia 1, Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus. The Xperia 1 replaces the XZ Premium series, and the Xperia 10 replaces the Xperia XA series, which means that the Xperia XZ3 successor still has a place.

Few people know it now, because many of the previous leaks actually mentioned Xperia 1. This is what we expect from the successor to Xperia XZ3, and what we want to see.

What Will Sony's Next Phone Call Be Called?

Sony will release the successor to Xperia XZ3, or that the series is now superfluous. We still expect to launch a device between the high-end flagship Xperia 1 and the mid-range Xperia 10. In theory, it will be the successor to the Xperia XZ3.

What this device will be called is anyone's guess. Is Sony Xperia 5 possible? This is the middle position between the two current range names, but if Sony provides an annual update of these ranges, this will cause problems within ...
... four years.

Release Date And Price
• May be IFA 2019
• About 699 pounds?

In the past, Sony Mobile updated its main smartphone line, the Xperia XZ series (formerly known as Xperia Z), every six months. In addition, we have seen other series of annual releases, such as Xperia XZ Premium (now called Xperia 1) and Xperia XA series (now called Xperia 10).

Although the new Xperia XZ3 has not yet been confirmed by Sony Mobile, we would be surprised if the company did not announce a smartphone on 2019 and the Xperia XZ3 successor was the most likely candidate.

In terms of pricing, we expect the Xperia XZ3 successor to be priced the same as the XZ3, so it is close to £699. This also puts it under Xperia 1, for £849.

Next Xperia: What do we want to see?

•More curves
• 21:9 display
• Display fingerprint sensor

The Sony Xperia XZ3 completely shocked the Xperia series. It is far removed from the OmniBalance design we expect from Xperia devices, switching to the curved back, slimmer edges and reduced borders around the display.

Xperia 1, Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus subsequently introduced and changed the form of the Sony smartphone we know. They feature a tall, slim body with a 21:9 display. However, they returned to the tablet design, and although there were no baffles on the bottom of the display, they all had foreheads.

We hope to see the next Xperia device combine the Xperia XZ3 design with the Xperia 1 design. Welcome to the 21:9 display, but we would like to see a reduction in the baffle above the display or better removal to provide a cleaner, shorter device.

We also want to see some XZ3 curves reappear on the next device.

What Do We Want To See On Sony's Next-Generation Xperia?

If Sony launches a smartphone, it is likely to launch the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, because Sony is one of Qualcomm's most loyal fans, and this is still the flagship product of Qualcomm.

After Adam Marsh of Sony told us that Sony will release a 5G smartphone in the near future, it would not be too surprising to see the X50 5G modem. In other words, Sony 5G smartphones may be completely different.

If the next generation of Sony smartphones is the successor to the Xperia XZ3, we hope that the front and rear glass will use metal cores. We also want at least one dual camera setup in the back, but we hope to find an Alpha-certified triple system on Xperia 1.

Probably microSD, IP65 / 68 waterproof and dustproof and USB Type-C charging will be on board, we also want wireless charging.

In terms of display, we put the money into about 6 inches, with Quad HD + resolution and support mobile HDR. This will distinguish it from the Xperia 1 and its 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED screen. We also hope to see a curved OLED regression like the Xperia XZ3 on the next generation of Xperia - this will also make Sony's Side Sense software feature more practical than the Xperia 10 model.

The fingerprint sensor inside the display is also great, but we don't expect it. Instead, we see Sony sticking to the side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the Xperia 1.

At the moment, we don't even know if there will be a successor to Xperia XZ3, but if we hear any whispers, we will update this rumor.
