Developing An Evaluation Plan

After implementing the plan that aimed at training and empowering nurses as well increasing the nursing staff, I will have to evaluate whether the solution is a success or not. During the evaluation, I will compare the different aspects of the plan before and after the implementation to determine whether the plan was a success or a failure. Since the nursing staff training aimed at familiarizing them with the current health care environments and equipments, it is important to evaluate whether the nurses are familiar and knowledgeable on the same. Most nurses have difficulties in handling healthcare care equipments such as the emergency paraphernalia (Ciottone, 2006). I will carry out the assessment by randomly visiting and observing nurses in their workstations to determine the extent of the knowledge the nurses have in their practices and the ever changing working environment. I intend to interview a number of nurses who have undergone the training to infer whether the training had given them some additional knowledge or the training was of no benefit.
The program also aimed at empowering nurses by providing the necessary ...
... machines and equipments to ensure that they worked at the most appropriate environment. In my plan, I will have to assess whether the provision of equipments to the nursing staff had any effect on the overall health care provision. In my proposed plan, I will seek to know the attitudes of both the nurses and patients before and after the creation of the new environment in order to determine whether the plan is working. A positive attitude towards the changes is an indication that the plan is successful while negative attitude would mean that the plan is a failure. In my proposal, I will also carry out an interview on nurses and patients picked randomly. The interview will seek their opinion on whether the provision of the necessary equipments had improved the health care services provide by the nurses or not. If there is any indication of an improvement on the service provision, thus it means that the plan is a success.
Similarly, since the plan aimed at increasing the nursing staff in order to reduce nurses to patient's ratios; I will evaluate the rate of nursing turnover. The proposed plan assumes that increasing the nursing staff will reduce the nursing staff deficit experienced in our hospital thus improving the quality of the health care service provided as well as increasing the number of patients attended to (Eileen, 2014). I intend to talk to some of our patients so that they can provide me with the information regarding the services they received before the hospital increased the number of nurses and after. There are supposed to be some improvements on the health services provided since nurses have ample time to attend to each of the patients (Vincent, 2011). If there is an improvement, then, it indicates that the plan is a success. Similarly, I would compare the patient discharge survey before and after implementation of the plan. In my assessment, I assume that the increase in nursing staff will lead to more patients being discharged as compared to the previous situation. The increase in the number of discharged patients would indicate that the health care services provided at the hospital had improved.
Finally, the general purpose of the program is to improve the standards of healthcare provided to our patients by either empowering the nurses or increasing their numbers. Therefore, any indication that there has been an improvement on the health services provided to our patients would indicate the success of the plan (Teng, 2010). While the deterioration of health care standards would mean that the plan is a failure.
