Components Of A Healing Hospital And Its Relationship To Spirituality
Introduction
I am writing this paper to make an explanation of what constitutes a healing hospital and the relationship those components have to Christianity. Advances in technology have made care and treatments scale another height. Diagnosis of patients is taking place by very powerful machines, and healing is much easier and faster. It is hard to find a hospital where all patients feel entirely satisfying. Another challenge is whether those components can be acceptable by strong spiritual beliefs or not.
List of the components for a healing hospital are: 1. A healing physical Environment, 2) The integration of work design and technology and 3) The culture of “ Radical Loving care” (Eberst, n.d). Healing is repair or restoration return to wholeness (Samueli, 2002). So the environment in the hospital and the way the people in that environment behave is supposed to restore your health even before treatment takes place. That healing is not only for the patient but also to the family members of the patient. That includes their spiritual wholeness, emotional and even mental well-being.
Remember that many things ...
... or occurrences in the hospital environment that are beyond tolerance are not acceptable. Very loud noises, the banging of metallic or wooden items, excessive heat, and even electrical flaws are a problem worthy calling for attention. The healing hospital must take care of these factors. That is because hospitals must ensure that all their patients, their workers and also the family members who are taking care of their patients are in good conditions. Let me now delve into details of some of the components of a healing hospital.
Good and harmonious relationship
The way doctors behave towards the patients, and their kinsmen should restore their hope and enhance their confidence in the doctors, nurses or whoever is offering treatment. The hospital; staff should have a healthy communion with the patients and their family members. They also need to listen carefully to them and show that the empathy and compassion. That kind of harmonious relationship will accelerate the well-being of the medication seekers in all aspects.
Having a healthy custom
The hospitals in question need to have the culture of advising and counseling the medication seekers. The kind of such is on how to cultivate a healthy lifestyle in their day-to-day lives. These lifestyles, for instance, are how to do exercise how to choose healthy foods, how they need to make their homes in a healthy way, and many more. It is also paramount if medication seekers have a thorough knowledge of how to contain their stress. The reason is that stress can also lead to a number of diseases such as ulcer.
Technology advances in hospitals.
Advances in technology for the medical equipments and machines have raised healthy and spiritual questions. There are some staunch believers in some religions who criticize some of the technologies used in the healthy sector. That is in the light of their strong religious beliefs. Physicians should strike a balance between the spiritual healthy and physical health.
Location of departments
It is something commonly found in many hospitals that departments are a very far from each other. Medication seekers find this thing very irritating as they have to walk for a very long distance between units. That should also be something to consider so as having a healthy environment. The departments must also be working in harmony in their delivery of services.
Conclusion
In our nation’s culture of religious pluralism, there is a broad range of belief systems ranging from atheism, agnosticism, to a myriad assortment of religions and spiritual practices. No physician could be expected to understand the beliefs and practices of the many differing faith communities (McCormick & Min, 2014). It is the light of this factor that we also need to try and understand others. We should apply the spiritual virtues of love and justice that we have been embodied with from our religions so as to thwart negative criticism of hospitals.
Challenges of creating a healthy environment
Nurse shortage: Many hospitals have a shortage of nurses, and this puts the well-being of patients in danger. Registered nurses in the United States average more than 43 years old as well as averaging 50 by 2010 and have a turnover rate averaging 20 percent per year (JCAHO, 2001). That is only one case among the several cases elsewhere in the world.
Poor remuneration: Despite the fact that nurses and other healthy practitioners are in scarce in many hospitals in the globe, the few who are there receive poor salaries. Many of them can be found spending most of their time in their personal clinics or pharmacies.
Poor healthy practices: These are, for example, unhygienic hospital environments for healthy workers and patients. The beds are being shared and are in very horrible states!
Proper locations of Wards: Wards should be put in proper locations so as not to make healthy workers become exhausted easily in moving from one ward to the other. And also patients and other people concerned should be able to find those Wards when referred to them.
