Transforming a room into something magnificent just with wall paints sounds cool, but painting walls can be tough. Read on to know how to make it easy in Nepal.

1. Your clothes, your inspiration

If you are not sure about which color makes you happy, go through your wardrobe. If you are mostly a neutral color person, go for tan or gray. If you are fond of cooler hues (For e.g. blues and greens), opt for those. If warmer shades are your thing, try orange or red.

2. Sample paint makes life easier

When you find the perfect color for yourself, buy a sample of it. Paint it on poster board and place it where you want to paint. Move it to look how it looks in different light and setting.

3. Math, math, math

To know the approximate amount of paint you need, do the math. Measure the wall's width and height and use the painting budget calculator of Asian Paints Nepal (www.asianpaintsnepal.com) to know your cost as well as the amount of paint you need for your project. If your room has built-ins or nooks, purchase an extra gallon to stay on the safe side.

4. Manage the ...
... time

If you are painting an average sized room, it takes approximately eight hours to finish walls. Add in one or two hours to move furniture and clear the room. Plus, there will always be an extra job around to do.

5. Ask for a discount

If you are painting an entire house, you have to buy a large amount of paint. If they do not give you some discount, ask for it.

6. Save your hands with gloves

Before painting, slip on a pair of cotton or latex gloves and save yourself from blisters it might cause. You might also find gloves with rubberized palm for a better grip. After the job is done, apply some coconut oil to hydrate and soothe your tired palms.

7. Plastic instead of trays

If you want to save few hundreds, instead of purchasing disposable liners for paint trays, line them up with a one-millimeter thick plastic sheeting you use to cover floor and furniture and tape it to the edges. After the job is done, just throw away the plastic.

8. De-fuzz rollers

Using masking tape, before you start working, de-lint the roller and keep the roller fuzz off the wall. Or, simply apply roller covers.
