What is Bachelors in mass media
Bachelors in mass media or BMM is a 3-year undergraduate course, that teaches you the manner in which how various mediums are used to communicate with the masses, in areas such as advertisements, journalism, communication, and public relations. The course consists of 6 semesters, where students in the last year are required to pick a specialization in either journalism or advertising. Usually, most institutes provide internships to their students as well. Seminars are conducted, group discussions and field visits take place frequently.
To be eligible for BMM, students are required to pass their 12th standard exam, and if required, a written test conducted by the institute, followed by a GD-PI session.
After completing their degree, BMM students can expect to get placed in fields like journalism, advertising, film-making, public relations, communication, etc.

First-year - Sem I & II

Sem III focuses on journalism, while Sem IV focuses on advertising. Sem 3 consists of subjects like creative writing, introduction to public relations, and cultural studies. Sem IV consists of advertising concepts like mass media research, mediums of communication like radio and television, and organizational behaviour.
The second year is very important for the students as it helps them choose a specialization in the final year - journalism or advertising.
Third-year - Sem V & VI
Advertising
Upon taking advertising as your specialization, Sem V will teach you concepts like copywriting, advertising design, consumer behaviour, media planning, and brand building. Sem VI will be more marketing-centric where you learn about marketing research, advertising and marketing ethics, and principles of marketing.
Journalism
Upon taking journalism as your specialization, Sem V will teach you about the basic but important essentials in journalism like reporting, editing, and writing features & opinions in newspapers & magazines. Sem VI teaches you about journalism and press law ethics, broadcasting, business journalism, global journalism, and much more.
