There is nothing worse for a child who is a victim of pesten. This occurs frequently in school and begins at a young age. It does not get any better and will usually scar a child who is a continued victim of bullies. This is why it is so important to stop pesten as soon as it begins. This can be done in a number of different ways.

The first step is to recognize the signs of pesten. This can be tough for the parents and the teachers as the bullies usually are sneaky when it comes to their bullying tactics. They will usually pick on a victim who is unable to fight back for one reason or another. Some children are taught not to fight back and others just feel as though they are outnumbered. The pesten appear more powerful than they really are. In order to stop pesten, someone has to recognize what is going on and tell a parent or a teacher so that the problem can be addressed. Many times, parents are the last person to realize that their child is the victim of bullying at school.

Not all schools contain only pesten and victims. Most students are good students who are not happy with this sort of behavior, ...
... feel sorrow for the victim but are hesitant to stand in because they are afraid that they will be the target. However, this is one of the most effective means to stop pesten. While pesten will often not listen to teachers or parents, if their behavior is shunned by their peers, they realize that their power is diminished greatly. It starts to affect them.

Teachers can encourage students to not only report pesten, but also not to tolerate it against victims. They can help stop pesten through awareness programs that not only teach what bullying actually is, but how it affects students who are the victims. Those who stand up to bullies on behalf of others find that their self esteem is raised and are on their way towards becoming adults who will be proud of themselves later in life for doing their bit to stop this behavior.

Parents who are afraid that their child may be a victim of pesten can get the answers that they need as well as be more aware of what is going on to stop pesten in the school by getting help. The more awareness that is created to solve this problem, the easier it will be to stop pesten. While bullies are going to continue bullying, they can find that their power is greatly diminished if they realize that others, not just the victim, are not going to put up with their behavior.

The more children, parents and teachers learn about pesten, how it affects children, how it is perpetrated and how it can damage everyone involved, the more they can do to stop pesten. This is a problem that is growing and needs to be addressed. It takes the efforts of parents, teachers and students to stop this problem, which can be stopped through awareness programs.
