PCOS is known as polycystic ovary syndrome. It is a common conditions that will affect the women’s ovaries. The three main features of PCOS are: irregular periods, excess androgen and polycystic ovaries. In excess androgen, where there is high amount of male hormones present in the body which may cause physical signs such as excess facial or body hair in the female. In polycystic ovaries, where your ovary is enlarged and contain many fluid filled sacs (follicles) which are surrounded by the eggs.

If these features are diagnosed in the female body they suffering from PCOS. These polycystic ovaries contain a large amount of harmless follicles that goes up to 8mm which is approximately 0.3in in size. These follicles are underdeveloped sacs in which these eggs will develop. In PCOS, they are unable to release these eggs, where ovulation does take place.

The most reasonable and important sign is the irregular period or have no period at all which might be quite problematic for the female. There is a difficult in conserving a child due to irregular ovulation or failure in ovulation in the ovary of the female. There is excessive hair growth in their body which is also name as hirutism. This is usually on faces, chest, back or buttocks that gives a manly feeling to the women. They also gain weight even though their diet is not such a kind in which they will gain weight.

They also suffer from other problem like hair loss from their head or even thinning of hair might be the case. They also may have acne or oily skin problem. These are the polycystic ovarian syndrome symptoms that are most commonly found in the female. If the patient is suffer PCOS they may also have the chances of having later life problem that may be diabetes and high cholesterol level. The reason why females are suffering from this is still unknown, but this often runs into the families.

There are abnormal hormone levels in the body which can be high level of insulin present in the body. Insulin is a part of hormones that contain sugar and also control the sugar level in the body. The treatment is not present for PCOS as such but there is treatment available for the symptoms that are present in the body. PCOS symptoms and treatment can be possible when there is control over the weight and other abnormal hormonal imbalance.
