Routine Drain cleaning is essential for home maintenance, but most home owners don’t generally know how to clean drain pipes in their home safely and efficiently. Clogged drains are one of the worst nightmares for a homeowner and without the right maintenance plan, they can clog over time and become a real nuisance.

We have crafted a quick guide for homeowners to take care of their home’s drain pipes.

Perform Daily:

• The first thing to take care of should be your kitchen drains.

When washing dishes never throw leftovers or oils down the drains, unless it is properly equipped with a strong garbage disposal.

The only thing that should be put into drains should be soap and water. You can also occasionally grind up lemon and lime peels to freshen the drain.

• Next you should take care of your toilet drains.

There are many things people usually throw into drains including facial wipes, baby wipes and other hygiene products. Avoid all of these at all costs and make a habit of throwing them into a garbage bin instead. They are a common cause of backups and clogs in the main drain line.

Perform Weekly:

• Take care of your kitchen and bathroom sinks first. Set aside the pop-up stoppers that insert in the kitchen and bathroom sinks, then clean out all gunk, wash the stopper and drain properly, and put the stopper back in.

• Next take care of your bathtub and shower drains. Routinely remove the cover of your drain, take a bent wire, put it into drain pipe, remove any present debris and replace the cover. This will help to prevent backups, although what you pull out of the drain might disgust you.

Perform Monthly:

Monthly cleaning is necessary because it will prevent the build-up of oils, residue, and other drain clogging items.

To start your monthly cleaning, take natural drain cleaners or lemon with water to clean the drains. Open all drains; put the cleaning liquids into them and finish by pouring hot water down the drain to rid the line of any residual cleaning product or debris.

Looking for a More Effective, Professional Approach?

• Firstly, you can use a plunger to open up clogged drains. A plunger is simple to use and useful in drain cleaning. The right way to use the plunger is to insert its head into the drains, blocking the air then simply push the plunger till the time its head inverts. Once, the head is inverted inside, stop the pushing motion and let the head pop back into its original position.

• If you did not want to use a basic tool, you could opt for a ready-made biological cleaner. Chemical cleaning is fast acting, and they do a great job of clearing the line and keeping it clean. However, before using chemical cleaners, read the instructions carefully.

• One more great method beside this is to use are DIY cleaner to maintain the drains. One cleaner complex is baking soda and vinegar. Make their solution and pour it down the drain and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes.

Detergent and hot water also works great when combined. These two ingredients when combined are effective when it comes to cleaning grease and oil from pipes.
