Throughout history, people consider themselves to unique with a set of personal preferences, opinions, quirks, and habits. Most of them share a range of feelings, habits, and beliefs with most of the people with whom they live in the society. They are likely to have a common historical feeling that eating dogs is weird, share the belief that bacteria and viruses cause illnesses, and yet possess a common habit of sleeping on a bed. However, they hardly ever think about the ideas and customs they share, but only assume them to be “natural.” A collection of such shared ideas and behaviors are part of what forms culture (Horton & James, 25).

Operation Desert Storm was a successful U.S-Allied reaction to Iraq's attempt to devastate Kuwait, its neighbor. Saddam Hussein had ordered his army into tiny Kuwait, an un ordinary act of aggression. Kuwait was the chief supplier of oil to the United States. That means that Iraqi takeover posed an immediate threat to oil supply and diplomatic relationship between America and Kuwait. Saddam went ahead to devour the neighboring Saudi Arabia, another major exporter of oil. If Saudi Arabia fell to Saddam, Iraq would have the opportunity to control one-fifth of the world's oil supply. All eyes inherently diverted on the White House, waiting for a response from President Bush. The reaction was thus important to claim the rights of these two nations which were rated inferior compared to Iraq’s troops and warheads. Also, America had to proof of its skillful diplomacy to the United Nations, and that it was a reliable instrument of force whenever necessary. The success made this become marked as a political event at the beginning of this decade (Tucker et al. 15).
The O. J. Simpson murder case refers a criminal trial held at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. This case got described as the most epic criminal trial in the American history. After an eight months trial, Simpson was set free after the jurors found no evidence against the black man. Critics against the verdict arose soon after. The not-guilty verdict contended that the deliberation period was unduly short compared to that of the trial. Further, that the jurors did not possess any college acquitted education and did not understand the scientific evidence. Discussion about the racial elements attached to the case. After the civil trial verdict, most whites believed justice had got served while most blacks (75%) disagreed. They believed the verdict to be racially motivated. NBC polls of 2004 showed that, of 1,186 people sampled, only 27% of blacks in the sample believed positive of the jury, compared to 87% of whites. Whatever the extent of "racial divide," Simpson case remains assessed through the lens of race. From a political perspective, Simpson case reflected deep-rooted obstacles to a truly united America (Schuetz & Janice, 16).
Diana, the Princess of Wales, passed away on 31st August 1997 as a result of injuries she sustained in a car crash. The impact of the loss could get measured from the thousands of extra copies of newspapers and magazines published in every language with her on the cover picture. Her death was a worldwide public event. Millions of people who included those who had never met her joined got twinned in the bereavement. Many nations mourned her and described her as a modern day heroine who led the people through love and charity. Diana’s death became a public event by default. That is because of extensive popularity, not only in the UK, but also worldwide. To many, she was known as the ‘People’s Princess’. She acknowledged her duty to serve and spent much of her time tending the sick and the elderly. She was indeed a remarkable role model to all. Her life was not a faerie tale but would get passed down, generation to generation like a proverb. Her death got marked a public event (Horton & James, 30).
The Columbine High School massacre referrers a school shooting that took place on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in Columbine. The American people were so much affected by this event, and Melissa Helmbrecht organized a remembrance event in Denver featuring two surviving students, calling it the "Day of Hope. An occasional memorial "to honor and remember the victims of shootings at got dedicated on September 21, 2007, in Clement Park, a field adjacent to the school. Impromptu memorials got held in the days that followed the shootings. Second order effects lead to a series of cohesion between the schools and the public. A third-degree effect was enactment of a plan to curb a repeat of a similar case where the public raised $1.5 million in donations to erect an eight years plan (Horton & James, 42).
In 1999, the America, in accordance with the agreement with the Torrijos-Carter Treaties officially handed over the control of the Panama Canal, putting the strategic waterway into Panamanian hands for the first time. An economical effect to the U.S is that, many Americans who worked in the Canal had to lose their jobs. That means that the U.S would lose a huge income. Politically, that meant the end of the war between the Panamanians and Americans over the control of 50-mile canal. Peace was thus bound to prevail Print (BRD, 13).
