First impression

It looks great, has a fantastic display, and enters at a price that is easy to swallow. Samsung may eventually create an Android tablet worth buying.

The Samsung Tab S5e is the brand's latest attempt to break the budget of the Android tablet market. Compared to the new Samsung Galaxy S10, this may not sound so cool, but if you look closely at the Tab S5e, you will find it to be one of Samsung's most attractive versions to date.

The new Galaxy Tab S5e is side-by-side with Samsung's older Galaxy Tab S4 and shares many of our favorite features with its predecessor. There is a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display, Atmos audio and AKG tuning speakers. Like the Tab S4, the Tab S5e features an elongated frame on the display and corners. In appearance, it doesn't look very similar to the iPad Pro (2018).

Other features include Bixby Voice Assistant, DeX supports connecting the tablet to the big screen and the battery will run for 14.5 hours in Samsung State. On the back is a 13 megapixel camera with built-in eight-core processor and 4 or 6GB RAM. Choosing a larger amount of RAM will also increase internal storage capacity from 64GB to 128GB.

I spent a lot of time using the Tab S5e at the Galaxy S10 conference, and I have to say that I was very impressed. Considering the rather mundane Android tablet in recent years, it feels like a fresh air.

The star is comfortable with a 10.5-inch AMOLED display. With a resolution of 1600 x 2560, it looks amazing. The color flows with charm, black is ink, it can become very bright. I watched a few demo videos and played some Asphalt 9 and I was completely immersed in it.
The lack of a thick bezel also gives the impression that you are just holding a large display.

The next thing you will notice after the screen quality is its lightness. It is only 5.5 mm thick and can be comfortably held with just one hand without any problems. The dark grey color scheme looks smooth too, although it is a white model that I have not seen. After years of quite boring mid-range tablets, this is the right direction for Samsung.

On the side is a capacitive fingerprint sensor and a fairly large 7040 mAh battery that can be squeezed by USB-C and Samsung's fast charging technology.

The problem with Android tablets has always been software. Too few apps support larger layouts, and the extended mobile app you left looks good and junk. Samsung itself can't solve this problem, although it has made some clever software adjustments here.

DeX mode gives you a PC-like desktop view with a window application and a taskbar at the bottom for fast multitasking. I like this view when I look at Tab S4, so I am very happy that it can be found here. You can also attach a folio keyboard, which will be a boon for anyone looking for a laptop replacement.

I only spent a while using a tablet, but it still feels fast and smooth navigation. Of course we have to spend more time to really judge how it handles everyday use.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e looks great, has an excellent display, and is inexpensive. Samsung may eventually create an Android tablet worth buying.
