Career Paths To Choose After Pgdm In Marketing
Aspiring management students looking to study with top B-Schools in Kolkata or other cities usually have four specialisations to choose from. One of the top selected specialisations is Marketing. Having said that, it's also essential that students opting to pursue a career in marketing have an understanding about what they are expected to do post their management education. This article will shed light on a few positions that you may fill once you graduate with a PGDM in Marketing.
1. Brand Manager
Every single big brand reached their pinnacle of success because people covet their products or services. Take Apple, for instance; the brand has positioned itself as a status symbol and consumers are always trying to get their hands on the newest release. This desire for a particular brand, service, or product has a lot to with a brand manager.
The brand manager is the one responsible for figuring out how the target audience should perceive the brand. Once they understand that, they move on to ensure that every single communication that is pushed to the audience is in line with that image.
If you are ...
... someone creative, have a knack for writing, can create strategies and oversee budgets, this is the job for you.
2. Sales Manager
This is perhaps one position that every marketing student knows about. A sales manager is someone who oversees the sales of a product or service in an organisation. However, there is a lot more that goes into being a good sales manager. You will be responsible for creating goals, framing training programs, and analyse data. Along with that, you will also need to manage a team effectively and find solutions to any gaps that your team is facing.
If you have excellent communication and analytical skills, you will thrive as a sales manager.
3. Marketing Manager
A marketing managers job may not seem different from a brand manager, and you wouldn’t be wrong. However, marketing managers are usually only looking at the ‘what’ of a project. For example, they are ones devising a plan about what actions the organisation should take to reach a goal.
As a marketing manager, you will need to be adaptable, possess analytical skills, be a good team player, have an affinity towards writing and possess the ability to look at the smallest of details.
Marketing is a huge domain, and there are various positions and job responsibilities that you can choose. This field also requires that you possess multiple and diverse skill sets. Good PGDM colleges in India take the time to ensure that their students learn most of the skills as mentioned above so that they can succeed in the crazy world that is marketing.
