The Professional Machine For Our Personal Farm
Total Articles: 99
It was when my father retired we decided to cultivate a hobby farm for him. He is someone who grew up farming until he bagged a lecturer’s job at ITI. While he could not continue with the labors of farming with his day job, he picked up gardening in our backyard. I knew a hobby farm would be the best retirement gift I can give him, and it turned it to be so. But, at the time the biggest challenge I faced was picking the right equipment, or one machine that will be sufficient, a compact tractor. I began googling around for the best compact tractor out there and I found the versatile machine that is Solis 20. It fulfills all the tasks a professional tractor can do as we could attach all the attachments we required for our little multiple cropping venture. Here is my experience with S20 for those out there searching around for the best compact tractor.
I found Solis 20 to be quite an efficient and sufficiently featured machine for our framing needs. Talking about these, the four-wheel drive is powered by a high torque 3-cylinder Mitsubishi engine and has 3-speed PTA with 6 forward, 2 reverse speed gearbox. What’s even better is that the compact tractor has a suitable track width for my personal farm, and the turning radius of 2.3 meters makes it easy for me to maneuver it there. The tractor also is very fuel efficient, and pretty quiet which makes the ride very comforting. Mine came with standard agricultural tires which provide pretty good traction. I realized its potential as a professional farming machine when I started using implements with it. This hobby tractor comes with a full category one-three point linkage. I can easily attach a trailer, a harrow, or any other implement I needed, which grew the scope of my farming. And with its lifting capacity of 500 kg and a towing
capacity of 1600kg, there was no stopping me and my compact tractor.
Although I vouch for the more affordable tractor S20, those still looking for a little extra around the same range can go for Solis 26. This is perhaps the best compact tractor out there. It is also powered by a three-cylinder, high torque engine, but comes with a more powerful 26 HP. The added 6 Hp gives it lifting capacity of 600 kg, a 100 kg more than what you get with S20. The towing capacity at 1600 kg, however, remains the same as that of S20. Also, it comes with oil breaking system instead of drum breaking which add more value to the investment. Here one can have an option of industrial tires which are very good for low ground pressure and improved traction.
Both models come with the option for a full loader fitting which is a quick single pinch release to take off the loader with ease. The Solis range of hobby tractors can attach multiple attachments at the back. From a trailer for carrying heavy duty loads, a disc harrow to chop the unwanted weed or crop residue, a cultivator to loosen the soil to make it even for cultivation process, or a rotavator for row cropping. The options for agricultural, industrial, or the turf or grass tire is also there as per one's preferences or requirements. All in all, this is where you will get a fully featured farming machine than the other hobby tractors in the market.
